The 3060 and TI should've had 8GB and 12GB respectively if Nvidia wanted to make more sales

Buy the card that suits your needs and pocket, and don't fall for all this marketing mambo jumbo. I have a 3060 12 gig and I'm happy. I mostly game during the weekend so I would say I'm a casual gamer. Suits my needs perfectly. I'm not loosing any sleep because I get a couple of frames less than the next guy.

Yeah this is one of the few TI cards that's definitely worth it. Just find it in a pre-built and you're golden. Less VRAM or not. It's great, beats the 6700XT even. Nice!

3060 is way better for people who not only want to play games fast (which both do) but alsp want to use AI models locally (which 3060ti cant)

If 3060ti had a 12 gb version it would've been a beautiful mistake from nvidia like the 1080ti.

Considering how much VRAM games eat nowadays,3060 is a wayyyyy better choice.8gb is already barely enough if you want to max out every setting

Nvidia makes such schemes to make a 8gb card stronger than a 12gb card of the very same card...probably a scheme to make each of it sell out

The vram is the very last thing you need to see , 8gb for 1080p is enough for the next 3-5 years anyway , plus the 40 series suck becouse of the bus bit cut, this is the reason the 3060ti it’s better than 4060

b550m, 5800x, 3060ti, 32gb 3200ram. I got the 3060 12gb a few months back (I started with a 1650 because I built at the end of 2021 and GPU prices were crazy, so it held me over). Then I got a 3060, which was great. Way better than the 1650, or the 860 I had before that. I play mostly Fortnite, but I also purchased Hogwarts Legacy after I got the 3060. I wasn't able to play on my 27" 1080x60 monitor with ultra settings without dipping below 60 frames. Ended up sending the 3060 back, and got the 3060ti. Now I can play all max / ultra settings (RT off), and never dip below 60fps.

I can see in the video here the 3060 is using 8+ GB Vram. But, the 3060ti is using 7+ GB Vram and getting more frames. So I don't know what shortcuts or texture reducing is happening. All I know is I am getting locked 60fps and I am happy. I wanted a system that could play max settings since my last system I kept 7 years and I was continually reducing settings in newer games to play with good fps. And I'll do that again now over the years. I just wanted to start with a 60fps locked at max settings. I'm happy :)

I expect on 1080x60 I can leave this system as it is for at least another 2 or 3 years. I don't play tons of games. But here or there I'll pick a new one up. So, in a few years when something I want to play leaves me wanting more, I'll upgrade. But for now, it's awesome, and my video rendering times are cut in half compared to the computer I replaced.

I play on a 27" 1080x60 monitor. Viewsonic, had it for almost 8 years now. It is amazing and I don't care to replace it. Built my PC a couple years ago (B550m, 5800x, 32gb ram, gen4 nvme). Originally had a gtx1650 (prices were crazy for GPU's back in 2021). Then I upgraded to a 3060 12gb. And although it played any game I wanted, I couldn't max most games out and get my 60FPS locked. Hogwarts Legacy I had to turn a lot down. Sent it back, and got a 3060ti. Now I can run Hogwarts Legacy on all ultra settings (Except RT off). And I get constant 60FPS. Was worth the extra $50 at the time. I don't mind turning settings down as things age. But I wanted my new card to max the games I play right now. And at 1080x60, that really shouldn't be hard.

the difference that people here forget is that 3060 memory is 192bits , and 3060ti is 256bit
192 bits = triple channel
256 bits = quad channel

Still going hard with 3060 Ti. For 1440p Gaming I would say its the best option even better then a 4060. Only the 4060 Ti tops them. Thinking about to upgrade next year with a new cpu combining the Ryzen 5 7600X 3D + 4070 Ti or 4060 Ti.

But for now honestly the 3060 Ti is enough.

In some situations 3060Ti, consumes almost 50W more, that's explains the "better" performance.

Even if possibly at some point in the near future all 8gb cards become obselete due to games becoming more demanding (worse optimization), the 12 gb RTX 3060 still wouldn't get more frames as it will inevitably always perform worse than the 8gb 3060 Ti. In the end we all get hustled by Nvidia several years in advance for buying their budget graphics cards...

Have a question regarding RTX3060 8GB for Forza Horizon 5. If the setting is same but with i3 13100F and 12GB RAM (2x8GB) will mine still achieve 60fps and above?

Edit: NVM already tried for Ultra Settings (including Ray Tracing) except World Car set as Extreme for 2K resolution , Im achieve 45fps-60fps most of time. The only reason fps drop are because ambient generated as Ultra.
