What I did not like about this video is you spoke as if no one every tears the hamstring from the bone. That's irresponsible. You should discuss that type of tear because the recovery/solution is totally different and depending on the extent can require surgery to re-attach. If you are going to cover a topic, cover it fully at the very least in the general sense, you did not even mention tears from the bone. Not good.

Hey any tips? i was in the pool and somebody jumped on my back. now im coping with pretty bad pain in my hamstring and a bit in my glutes. i went to physiotherapy but it didnt help. i tried doing the hamstring exercise by lying down and tucking my knee to the chest and straightening my leg but it hurts like hell. it didnt even get a little better after 5 weeks

Great video! I was sitting in my chair one day and did a full extension stretch when I heard this pop behind the knee. I'm thinking it was part of the tendon or lower part of the hamstring. Now two weeks later I'm looking to rehab it. I feel some knots behind the knee, I wonder if that could be scar tissue that has already formed. thanks

I wish I would’ve just searched for a Bob and Brad solution to my hamstring pull(or it might be a small tear?). I’m old school and tried the “just walk it off” and “no pain, no gain” approaches and immediately started doing gentle stretches into where it was most painful, but it’s still weak and it still spasms when I’m walking and it contracts in a certain spot.
It’s only been about 2 days since I fell and pulled it, so hopefully I can correct my course with these tips. I’ve already tried the massage technique and that helps a lot. Thanks Bob and Brad 😊

Right when I’m getting into a good flow… POP. Happened while doing straight leg dumbbell deadlifts… final rep on the way up… had to drop the weight immediately. Able to walk, but quite tender. Guess I’ll just do upper body for a while :(

I have pain in the lower hamstring just above the knee at the back of my leg which hurts like anything when I stretch my leg. I'm unable to walk within the normal range of my leg n it hurts wen the leg is behind in the walking position. 🚶‍♂️ it's been nearly 5 months now n not going away.
Any helping advice ?

3 weeks ago, ice under my doormat caused it to shoot out from under me, and I landed HARD on my butt, hearing a loud POP as I landed. Extreme pain - passing out.
ER X-rays revealed no broken bones... and nothing else. Finally got an MRI yesterday... completely tore my hamstring off at the top.

The first 10 days, I could only lie in bed and get up and walk every few hours to avoid blood clots.
Could finally sit for a full minute after a week and a half.
The huge black bruise that covered the back of my thigh is gone, but the area burns with pain when I sit... which is a bummer, because I'm a secretary. I can only sit for short periods of time.

When I walk, the back of my leg feels "wobbly", like that muscle is flopping around in there.
Sometimes, when I step forward with that leg, it's like I have no resistance from the back of the leg, so my foot flies too far forward, and I almost lose my balance.

The Orthopedic Surgeon says my muscle has separated about 3 cm from the tendon, and the injury is right next to the Sciatic Nerve. Scar tissue has already begun to form in the area. Surgery would be very dangerous - a nick on the nerve, and I could become disabled even worse.

So, here I am, very frustrated. I'm the only secretary at the dealership where I work, and the work is piling up... I go to work, driving with my left foot doing the gas and the brake, because it hurts too much to use my right foot. But I can sit very little... I have a mat to throw on the floor behind the desk and lie down, taking the phone and a notepad with me. I'm exhausted.

What kind of recovery period am I looking at? What's the best way to rehabilitate my leg?

Great video, thank you! I have a question. I didn’t actually specifically injure my hamstring but about two months ago it became extremely tight. The flexibility on my right hamstring is much less than my left leg. I also have less range of motion in lunges with the injured leg. I stretch it every single day and sit on a spiky ball and massage Ropey tight muscles. It’s just not getting any better. Been like this for a couple months. This has happened in the past as well. Do you have any suggestions? I have a short leg and FAI syndrome so this might play a role. Thank you so much!
