God bless the crew and families of the Fitz and all mariners. We grew up on Lake Ontario and our grandfather always told us about the night the ship went to her grave. He remembered hearing it on the news. He later said even before he learned of the sinking he had an ominous, haunting feeling the entire day that he could never explain. It still gives me chills. Beautiful documentary and tribute to the brave men. And Gordon's ballad has always been beautiful
ОтветитьDrunk for a ???
ОтветитьRest in Peace to those 29 men aboard the Edmund Fitzgerald. Devastating loss
ОтветитьThis is a story that needed to be told. These men must never be forgotten 🙏RIP
ОтветитьA real shame that the official report blamed the crew for not tightening the clamps when Captain Cooper's theory makes far more sense.
ОтветитьThere is nothing like the power of the waves in Lake Superior.
ОтветитьEven after all these years, my heart breaks for the families that lost brothers, sons, fathers and husbands on this ship. I pray they're all with God in Heaven now. Very brave men.
ОтветитьThe show after they weren't prehistoric they were present day within a few thousand years
ОтветитьWould anyone know how long the crew served together? It seemed like some signed on at the last minute. I think the cook was brought on to replace the ships cook who was sick, imagine his story? Rest in peace to the 29.
ОтветитьDry nice!!!😮
ОтветитьI've never met these men or their families, but growing up in Michigan and spending a lot of time on those lakes, this story has always stirred great emotion in me. Peace be with those men and those left behind.
ОтветитьThose men didn't deserve that
ОтветитьThat's an important time of life I was 5 years old when that Happens November 10th of '75
ОтветитьThis is our ocean in the midwest lol
ОтветитьMy wife and I hiked the UP a few years ago. At one point, I just stood there gazing at the mighty Lake Superior. I couldn’t help but think of those 29 men who perished all those years ago. May God bless their souls, and all of their family too.
Ответитьwhere does the love of God go ?
Ответить1995?? Surely 1975.
ОтветитьI'd like to see more about captain cooper, he was one brave man with a sense of duty.
Ответить😢 soul stirring to say the least.
ОтветитьYeah he listed
ОтветитьThank you Mr. Lightfoot for the greatest story ever told encapsulated in song . R.I.P. Mr. Sundown !
ОтветитьIn addition to the infamous " SHe is holding her own ", I have read that there is also a later transmission of McSorley yelling at his crewmen to " Stay off that deck" as they were apparently trying to abandon ship,
ОтветитьI grew up in Florida. I can't wrap my head around big water/weather that's not salty. I'd like to check it out, one of these days.
ОтветитьNot sure who cut the entirety of names and bell rings at end but I find it extremely disrespect.
ОтветитьIf the coast guard was too scared or ill equipped to go or hesitant, who the hell do they think anyone should be delivering iron ore in this horrendous of weather...wow and then the coast guard has the nerve to ask these ships to go back out thank God the didn't lose anyone else...bless the men and women in the coast guard but that particular branch back then seemed very ignorant and very stupid and the companies that risk men for money hungry idiots sry
Ответить'Does anyone know where is the love of God goes/ When the waves turn the minutes to hours.' What a fine, fine line. Moving documentary but personally, I don't like reenactments. The facts, images, photos and interviews do the job.
ОтветитьThe Big Lake they called Gitche Gumee
ОтветитьJack Champeau….God Bless you brother…from a fellow Sturgeon Bay native.
ОтветитьVale Gordy.
ОтветитьMaybe a silly question, but how much of the footage shown is from the actual wreck, if any? I can’t tell if it’s a recreation or the real thibg
ОтветитьThe ship was overloaded with its cargo, The hull and hatch covers leaked. Simple. There could have been steps to stop shinking. Basically it leaked and the ship was over loaded from The time it was launched.
ОтветитьI remember my dad recording this documentary on a blank VHS tape.
We still have it, to this day...
RIP Gordon Lightfoot and the crew of the Edmund Fitzgerald 😢
ОтветитьIt is truly amazing how many lives this tragedy have touched and how many people have a connection to the magnificant ship, The Big Fitz!
ОтветитьThese commercials are great!
ОтветитьMy favorite Maritime disaster. Even over the titanic. The Fitz was a legend on the Great Lakes.
Ответитьcommercials for Windows 95 lol
ОтветитьAnd 30 years later, hurricane enron brought down Arthur Andersen
ОтветитьWouldn't have watched this ....but the man who wrote the song, has now hopefully met the men he wrote about. As The Lord wills. :)
ОтветитьGordon Lightfoot passed away yesterday. His music was part of my youth but like many, back then I did not know "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" was the narrative of a true story. I have known it was true for decades but now, having watched this documentary gives new meaning to Lightfoots words.
ОтветитьI am pro-vajazzle as many people know
ОтветитьRIP Mr Lightfoot
ОтветитьWho's here after hearing about Gordon Lightfoot ???
ОтветитьWhat a fascinating tale of a ship that was lost to Superior
ОтветитьGordon Lightfoot's passing today brought me here.
ОтветитьVery Sad
ОтветитьWhat theater company will stage “Ten November” in 2025, the 50th anniversary year?
ОтветитьOh the brother crying was just so heart breaking❤God Bless their families ✝️🙏
