10 Minutes of Trans and Nonbinary Cartoon Characters

ON THE SUBJECT OF PERFUMA: The reason I included her was that her designer said they intended her as a trans woman while creating her. I decided to count this at the time of making the video, but clearly there are disagreements about it. If you don't see that as a valid reason for her inclusion in the video that's perfectly fine! But please. PLEASE. Read through the comments concerning her before mentioning it because there is a 90% chance someone has already commented exactly what you were about to say lol.

Fun Fact: In the original Strawberry Shortcake series (the 1980's version) Plum Puddin' was originally a boy, but Plum disappeared for a while after the first major special of the show until a few specials later where she came back as a girl.
And due to the fact that Plum is still being portrayed as a girl (excluding the new reboot of Strawberry Shortcake) people have headcanonned that she is trans because of the fact that the show changed her gender.
The original creator had never made the connection that Plum was trans but accepted this as canon.

(Also not so fun fact, the creator was never given royalties and payment for creating Strawberry Shortcake, The Get Along Gang and the Care Bears, she's just now starting to make her presence on social media known and she does commissions of the characters and is very open about inclusivity, she also has her own website)

Also Fun Fact: Rusty from Thomas and Friends was nonbinary throughout the show (until Season 10 where they decided to make them male) the original creator Britt Alcroft confirmed that they wanted Rusty to be gender neutral, considering the fact that they never referred to Rusty by specific pronouns outside of they I think this was monumental considering the time that Season 4 of Thomas and Friends came out.

Im suprised how many anime you found with desent representation that actually address the trans character as trans. Saving from here to my watch list!

I know I'm two whole years late for this, but one other charachter I would dominate is Robot Jones (yes, weird ass choice, but hear me out)
For those who don't know, he basically belongs to an old and short Cartoon Network show called "Whatever Happened to Robot Jones" with episodic 11 minute episodes, so continuity isn't that relevant or important
Whoever, it did have one really interesting episode simply called "Gender", where Robot Jones struggled figuring out which bathroom to use. With the final analysis (this is something that happened at the end of every episode) beign:
"What does it mean to be a boy or a girl? There are many ways for boys and girls to act, which are okay. But which way is best for me? I've found that I'm highly comparable with both girls and boys, but I'm glad that I'm not a girl or boy but a superior robot"
So I feel that for that final speech alone that he should at least get an honorable mention in another video, either from here or anywhere else

There's a surprising amount of anime here
