I’m an Illinois resident and I will never forget when our manager at Subway burst in after Governor Pritzker announced his closure of the state and said “time to shut it down” and I was laid off for three months for that . I was working another job as a pizza maker and we stayed open but man business was insane for weeks after that .

I'm here in March 2024. When you take the deaths out of the equation, the lockdowns were the most peaceful, reflective times of my life. I remember cruising the mountains alone, no tourists who rush me or act rude and who litter. The wild felt wild again. Pollution cleared up. The moose were out and about, the fox..the animals got to reclaim their homes again at last. No humans invading their spaces with cameras and phony adoration. It truly felt like FREEDOM. I'll always desperately miss it . While so many struggled, I finally healed. Sadness only returned when the people did, then the animals hid again and watched us pollute their land.
