The Anglo-Saxons defeated the Vikings. Not even going to bother watching the video...
ОтветитьThen they became Norwegians and gave up.
ОтветитьOmdat ze eenheid hadden en geen politiek overcorrecte bevolking die ondermijnend werkte
ОтветитьJust stronger, taller, genetically.
Scandinavians are amongs the tallest in the world but ALSO THICK, thick bones and strong bodies.
Theres a reason why most strongmen are originally from Scandinavia. They are just stronger than everybody else.
Vikings never had horned helmets, just so you know.
ОтветитьHel (roughly the one who hides, concealed, hidden) was in Norse mythology the goddess of death, ruler of the underworld Helheim or just Hel, located in Nifelheim, which is considered by some to be the opposite of Valhalla. She is said to be the daughter of Loki and Angerboda.
ОтветитьThere are several important things that are not mentioned. The Vikings had further developed the sword. The sword was longer than other swords. The metal was stronger and the grip better. The Vikings' bows were reinforced longbows and the arrows were stronger and had better and stronger arrowheads. The axe also had a longer handle and a larger axe blade. And last but not least, the Vikings had chain mail with collars.
ОтветитьAny warrior culture who reveres death in battle over all else will be effective at war, especially raiding.
ОтветитьThey were great raiders but certainly far from invincible. The Irish defeated them to a point they never returned , there are records of them landing on Scottish shores only to be met by local Clans who told them to move on or face the locals who were well up for a fight and the Vikings departing as quickly as they could. They couldn't remain in the Americas through constant pressure from the local Indians. Great warriors but short lived.
ОтветитьThey eaten fish. Dried fish. High protein and full of essential fats and oils. We in the UK eaten broth of whatever was available. Boiled veg essentially. You are what you eat...
ОтветитьThey had short lives though, most died before they were 40
ОтветитьBTW, vikings didn't have horned helmets
ОтветитьThey were no better than English Anglo Saxons. Yes they conquered quite a lot of the UK in the 8th & 9th centuries AD but then had their backsides kicked by Alfred and his son Athelstan in the 9th & 10th century. So yes they were fearsome but not invincible.
ОтветитьThey were not. Beaten by monks by militias by townsfolk. They preferred to attack by surprise.
ОтветитьBecause they emitted anxiety radiation from their eyes, a special magical power granted by Odin.
Ответить300 Vikings vs 300 Spartans ?? As well armed as they can carry. I got Leonidas whoopin'em.
ОтветитьThe only ones who managed to fight the vikings back were the moors. I live in an old viking city and the viking graves are full of arabic coins and traded with arabic coins. They had a close contact with the muslims. There are also honored graves on a central place on the island of Birka with graves pointing towards m
Mecca the muslim holy city. Those in the graves were muslims invited as honored guests to live with the vikings.
Only....they were not. Nations adapted very quickly to their tactics.
ОтветитьThey attacked villages and towns were the fighting men were scattered. If an adversary had attacked a Viking village the damage would have been similar. It was like the German blitzkrieg. They weren’t special just concentrated violence.
ОтветитьRidiculous, you have been drinking too much Hollywood.
ОтветитьThy where a not good fighter’s. They use mostly surprise tactics against defend less towns. They got no chance against organized armies. In The Siege of Dorostolon the Byzantine’s found out that they have no clue how to fight cavalry. Not to mention The Battle of Stamford Bridge
ОтветитьVikings had binoculars? Really?
Ответитьrowing alot made for someone who could simply outlast whoever they were up against endurance 101`
Ответитьvikings raided coastal citys like paris ., konstaninopal and other waterbased harbours ,,
ОтветитьThe Vikings were great warriors no doubt....However their cousins the Anglo Saxons were quite capable also...In fact It was the Anglo Saxons who all but wiped out the Vikings at the battle of Stamford Bridge....The Vikings arrived in England with 300 ships loaded full of men and fled with only 20 ships left. Thus ending the Viking age....Television seems to leave those facts out.
ОтветитьGreat video! The Vikings - an eternal legend!
ОтветитьYou mention that the viking warriors had a high level of moral fighting duty, but I would like to extend that with trust in each other. That the other guys had ny back, and I had theirs.
Something that has extended even to current Nordic countries.
Being a Dane of Danish and Swedish decent, I consider myself a down the road viking.
Our societies are built on trust in each other.
You do your job, and I do mine.
No society is perfect and neither are ours, but we have high levels of efficiency and low levels of corruption.
We trust each other. We work with and for each other. We have high taxes, but those are used for us all, high and low.
Everyone has a place in society, and everyone's needed, so no one has to bow down to anyone else.
That makes for flat and fluid societies, that are easy to live in.
Hence producing the most happy people in the World 😊
What happened to them today? They gave up their nations to leftist policies and open borders. Totally cucked, sadly.
ОтветитьI would say that every person ever that was trained as a warrior where good fighters no matter where you came from.
One fighting style however that I would say was a viking speciality was ship to ship warfare.
They were defeated by the small Kingdom of Asturias first in Gijon and in La Coruña by the king Ramiro I. The Asturians were fighting and defeating the Umayyad, the best Army at that time. Asturians were not afraid of Arabs, Suevii or Visigoths less of the Vikings ( bandits only good for fighting unarmed peasants). Vikings, only good propaganda.
ОтветитьI’ve never heard they were any better at fighting and killing than any other pillagers.
ОтветитьThey only succeeded in killing defenceless villagers. The Irish tribes regularly defeated viking incursions. Brian Boru's brother specialised in hunting vikings. They killed his wife and child, so he hunted them and managed to remove them completely from Limerick. Brian Boru broke them and cleaned up Ireland of Viking rulers. The Curonians also smashed the vikings several times and even invaded viking kingdoms. So the only long term real success of the vikings was england and normandy. As for fighting prowess the Irish fought in light clothing and defeated vikings who wore chain mail and had more armor. The vikings also feared the Irish and the Curonians.
ОтветитьSound like the Klingons…. A warrior race…
ОтветитьThe narrative tells one story, the illustrations quite another, full of historical errors and anachronisms. The Vikings DID NOT have horns on their helmets. The helmet is for protection, the horns would guide a sword blow toward the head rather than away from it. The scene where a Viking is scouting out their opposition using a pair of binoculars is utterly laughable. Even a single telescopic tube was not invented for hundreds of years.
ОтветитьMost of this is historical bullshit
ОтветитьVikings with binoculars?
ОтветитьNOT TO MENTION THE STRONGEST/LUCKIEST WARRIORS TO SURVIVE EACH GENERATION GOT TO PRODUCE MANY MORE CHILDREN THAN THE DEAD WARRIORS
Ответитьthe vikings were great warriors
but when they went down to do their pillaging and raiding Spain they attacked big cities like Valencia and soon encountered the armies of the Spanish Muslim sultan and were crushed many times
They lost. Byzantines were better fighters, Normans were better and Vikings lost to both -"Vikings" are a lot more romantized so people 1000 years later think they were the greatest warriors.
Ответитьthey was trained from childhood thats why!
ОтветитьThe Vikings believed in a glorious death and fought with honour. Followed by “They raided monasteries and unguarded villages”.
Sounds like they weren’t fully convinced in all that Valhalla mythology 🤣
As a berserk Bärsärk in swedish I can tell you that it is a state of mind. Some have it in them and some don´t. My father has it I have it, my sons not so much sadly I can say. Even if the oldest son is one of a heck fighter, he still don´t get into that mind set.
No drugs. That is pure nonsense, you wanna be right here in the moment.
I'm Canadian, and of Norwegian decent. I even have a viking tattoo from 20 years ago. This is an interesting video.
ОтветитьThe short answer to the war history of the Vikings is that early tribal peoples in Scandinavia such as the Heruli, Burgundians, Kimprians and Teutons actually traveled south and were enlisted in the Roman army where they learned combat technique and formation.
Add to that the war fleet consisted of the largest and strongest men from Scandinavia to the Eideren, Frisians, Poles from Jomsborg, Russians, Ukrainians, Finns.
So there were no weaklings on the ships and add to that that their fleets were way ahead of their time and last but not least, they were skilled at exploiting the contradictions that existed between the different population groups in the British Isles in the post-Roman era
They weren't actually good fighters. If you check history they lost and run every time a foe got organized. As you can read in the history of England. Don't believe everything you see in TV series.
ОтветитьScandinavian culture is indeed important, but don't forget genetics. Still strong genes in Scandinavia.
ОтветитьCold vlimate breeds tough warriors . when they go down the south .they can mostly own the southern darkies.
ОтветитьTough fighters usually come from cold northern regions.if not bery north thry can also be high latitude mountainers/highlanders where is cold as well .scandinavians are evolved in colder regions than central europe/southern europe.when the Huns and Mongols who came from regions even much colder than northern europe they owned germanic tribes .
ОтветитьBecause they are Russians and Serbs 🇷🇺🇷🇸🎩🎩
