Beautiful building but garish and disrespectful interiors. I’m sure someone with more money than good taste will buy it.

Those "designers" should get famous so that they never allowed to work on any historical building anymore. Pure destruction. A drunk druggy took over the historical beauty and destroyed it from inside.

One thing about living in America I've never understood, is why there has always been the need to either tear down buildings and houses that were built to last or the desperate need to modernize buildings or homes thatve stood strong throughout decades and even centuries, either leaving no ability to see what once was or a modernized skeleton of what once was, that's not even a shadow of some of the most beautiful, unique architecture, woodwork and detail ever created and without computers that cookie cutter and mass produce everything we see these days but you can travel or even see online that countries such as Japan, China, Russia, the UK, Italy etc and see things thatve survived centuries, decades and so on because many countries don't find it nessesary to tear down things that are a window into the past, don't need to modernize these structures to an unrecognizable level and found ways, professionals that managed to keep these historic sites, even homes maintained. In England they many cottages etc that survived the medieval period and lasted today despite having a Thatch roof because thatchers were shown these skills since the medieval times and they didn't determine it to be an unnecessary time of skill just so they could replace roofs with roofing shingles or whatever is the easiest form of roofing there is or was throughout the years and although not all homes have that particular type of roof and many homes or places are modern or have been made more modern, there are entire villages in England that have been maintained and untouched by modern designs and architecture yet in the US although I do love my country, I just wish there were far, far more historic homes well maintained, kept as original as possible as well as many stores or buildings in general but unless it's a courthouse, statue etc seems as if knocking things down to make land available to build, build and build on is more important, leaving even the town I grew up in, become a city, almost unrecognizable to how everything was when I was a child and in came more crime, drugs, issues and seems to be all about money

Oy - too busy and cluttered - like a showroom for an interior design firm. Less is more, especially with a building of this heritage. Really, really bad.

If they had scaled back on the hideous furniture/accessories/artwork....they could have put that money into creating a fabulous outdoor living space on the rooftop.

I can't believe they butchered that mansion the way they did!!! What a shame!! I also can't believe that a designer was brought in to showcase their talents in an iconic landmark in NYC and the best they could come up with was what we just saw!!

The “master suite” the pink cotton candy, I can’t imagine a husband sleeping in there. If it was for a little girl, great! Where are the other 3 bedrooms
Just how many bedrooms does the master suite need?

I'm not interested in such, but, it's got some real beautiful scene's of luxuries in the so-called mansion, but, the advertiser appears as an unfair and or unreal as in dishonest talking advertising you, your etc at times of which I don't like, means, I'm against such talk of advertisements, plus, the price of so-called mansion are believed to be waaaaaaay toooooooooooo high set up for persons to can't afford or to never really own, but, maybe would let certain person or certain group of people live in a certain amount of time to do certain unfair work for the seller/s and or bankers customers service persons. 👉 I'm a natural fair doing female, I wouldn't be for such that the advertiser is saying in advertising about I am totally against. 👉 But, the place does have some beautiful scene's and things inside the listed as mansion.

I'd make that property worthy of its architecture and neighborhood

So they let the same kind of "fashion" designers that make cloths out of TVs, lamp shades and burlap sacks "design" this already beautiful architecture? It looks to be somewhat salvageable with the marble counter tops and what was left of the original architecture. The rest is letting people that didn't belong in the home, puke in it. I'm a Realtor in NY and this just brought the value down $10M if not more.

to those who commented that the designer destroys the house, keep in mind that this building is a house not your community museum or time capsule. I'm pretty sure they did what they were asked for. plus the property owner probably wasn't planning on opening a museum so blame the owner not the designer

Most comments seem to take offense at this house because designers didn’t keep it original, even calling it massacred and destroyed!
To that I say TO BAD!! This was someone’s home, they designed it the way they wanted it, (I’m assuming of course) so it’s their business. No one elses!
If they want to live in a gauche cotton candy bedroom, so be it. It’s not for me, but it’s not my house!
People should be ecstatic, that the wealthy owners have maintained the exterior of the building so well. Had it been left up to many people my age, of my generation, back in my day, we would have just bulldozed the entire building down and built something new in its place!
The last thing we want is to give the nut jobs at the historical society the idea they have enough power to start dictating how people furnish the inside of their homes! Because given the chance, I firmly believe they’d jump on it. And who wants to live like that?
I’ve been personally involved with many remodels on similarly priced townhouses and homes like this, that fall under the category of historical places. And I’ve done so in several old, major cities, so I know what I’m talking about. I even had to fight tooth and nail numerous times just to be able to install air conditioning in homes like this, due to the historical society lobbying complaints against it!
The moral of the story? Be careful what you complain about, because it could impact things negatively, more than you ever dreamed possible. Be happy the buildings exterior is preserved so well. As for inside? That’s the owners domain. Give them the same respect of privacy that you enjoy inside your home.
