Dear Claudia. I've been following your channel for two years now. Thank you very much for your effort - I've learned so much about skincare!
Once you recommended a pillow to prevent wrinkles caused by a side sleeping position. I can't find the video anymore. Could you please tell me, which pillow you recommended back then?
Thank you very much.

I haven't used mouth tape, so this comment isn't directly responsive.
I have used something else for the same purpose. For a variety of reasons, like some others here, I started sleeping on my back last spring and also started having the open mouth/dry mouth issue. I didn't like the idea of mouth taping and tried an anti-snoring chin strap. The strap was somewhat stretchy, adjustable, not expensive, and comfortable. It worked as far as keeping my mouth (reasonably) shut went. Unfortunately, I couldn't keep wearing it because of an unrelated problem, but any folks out there who don't like the idea of mouth tape or don't find the tape itself to be comfortable might look into the chin straps.
That said, it seems to me that the first thing to do is find out why your mouth is open so much at night. A fix different from forcibly keeping your mouth shut might actually help more. For example, as I understand it, snoring can be caused at least partly by poor muscle tone, and there are exercises that will help that (and improve the appearance of your throat, if you care about that). Nose congestion caused by allergies could also respond to other treatments. As a side sleeper, I sometimes used those in-nose expanders, which worked. The external strips wouldn't stay on due to my nighttime skin care. Sleeping on my back helps the congestion so that isn't a problem any more.

Can you advise on his status and how to contact him. Love your videos🌺

CPAP users often try mouth taping during the period when we are become accustomed to using the CPAP. The other option we use to keep the mouth closed is a band that holds the jaw closed. I have tried both. The tape was easier for me. I used a different tape than the one that Claudia used. I used 3M Healthcare Durapore Silk-like Cloth Surgical Tape 1" x 10 yds, Hypoallergenic Adhesive, Water Resistant, Latex-free. It definitely helped me get used to the CPAP. I stopped using tape when I no longer needed it. As for dry mouth, I have huge issues with it because I have an autoimmune disorder. I use Xylimelts to keep my mouth moist overnight, and have my teeth professionally cleaned three times a year instead of twice a year.

I have sleep apnea where I would stop breathing for up to a minute. With the cpap machine it helped but was taping my mouth shut until my body got used to breathing only from my nose through the cpap nasel mask. But is is embarrassing to have to use it but vital for health and sleep 🤷‍♀️

Mouth taping definitely improved the quality of my sleep, I don't wake up a few times a night to drink water nor go to the loo. Also, for any mouth taping enthusiasts, I also go to bed greased up and the only thing that worked is actually boob tape! I cut them into the desired shape and they stay put all night and are much more economical. I never cover my entire mouth, I stick the tape vertically in the middle of my lips it sits under the nose tip and halfway down my chin.

Hello Claudia
Thank you so much for your response, and what a coincidence that you were also thinking of having the same treatment.
I was also concerned about the possibility of fat loss in the face and after reading what are both our concerns are, and I will leave having anything done to my face or neck with that procedure. I will possibly try it for my upper arms as after losing weight and putting it back on again, and when I was young spent all my summers in the sun and now I am left with lose crepey skin so I don't think whatever treatment I have could make it any worse than it already is and I will let you know what the results are.
Thank you for all the valuable information that you must go to great lengths to find and bring to us all. I very much appreciate it, and you ❤️ xxx

Hi Claudia, Just the night before yesterday when I was putting my mouth tape I thought if I should suggest this topic for you to talk about, in case of course you wouldn't have heard or thought of it , because I remember you said in previous videos that you are not a good sleeper and it was funny because a video from you on this popped on my feed.I could only watch it now.

Your channel is amazing even if it didn't work for you. It's wonderful that you talk about this and spread the message to more people that can then try and see if it works for them, as we are all different from each other.

I am so sorry it didn't work for you because it can definitely work wonders! I can tell you that my sleep quality improved tremendously.

After watching your video I realize that what I'm about to tell from my own experience, may be challenging for you and for people that have that same fear of suffocation, but it can also be the reason it didn't work for you, because you were still letting air in. In case you have always tried with that tape that has a small hole. I also realize that retraining our mind takes time and in that process of getting used to it people will sleep even worse and with work and life people may not be able to give it a try and that's completely understandable.

Two months ago I decided to try it with kinesiology therapeutic tape.

I also go to bed all greasy including on my lips from my lip moisturizer balm.

I make a small pressure with my hands while I'm laying on my back until it sticks to the skin.

To work for me, the tape has to be sticked outside the lip area.

I use 3 layers of it to be strong enough to get my lips fully closed.

On the nights I wasn't aware of this my mouth opened even with the kinesiology tape on and as there was air coming in the same way, it didn't work.

Because I reuse the set of tapes, the last few days of use, I place surgical tape on top of that one, just to make it tighter, otherwise the air will get in.

I probably need 3 layers because I am using a mouth retention which is not a common one because it is made to also move some teeth..so the shape prevents me to put my lips together easily. You who may be reading this, may not need to use 3 layers.. but again if it's breathdable it might not work.

Also, If you need to cough it is not difficult to take it off and put it on again.

Sorry for the long comment. I am super passionate about topics related to sleep improvement, so I hope my experience can help someone!

I just use the tape my mom brings me from the hospital I guess it is medical tape. Only time I wake up is if I need to cough. Having a humidifier on at night at the same time works better for some reason! When I wake up my mouth is wet but tape is still attached I noticed sometimes there can be a small opening . But it’s still much better than having your mouth open like a vacuuming effect for the entire night. Disgusting to think what we ate sucking in and waking up with headaches and dry mouth

Oh wow! thanks for this video Claudia. I was been thinking about doing this but I kept on imagining I would also panic at the idea of not being able to breathe or feeling suffocated! I have been sleeping so great lately that I don't want to mess that up. Way before this became a trend (back in 2017), my holistic dentist mentioned the problems (not benefits ) that come when breathing through the mouth while sleeping so I got a tad worried. I often panic thinking about swallowing my tongue (watch some movie that probably traumatized me haha) and the idea of not being able to breathe but I will try this with regular tape (why buy official tape when I don't know if I'll hate it) and see. I'll probably end up losing sleep as well :-) worth trying though. Phew! I'm already feeling nervous just thinking about any restraining while sleeping!

I just watched an ENT doctor recommend mouth taping. He combines that with using a nasal strip the kind that holds your passages open. And he just uses one piece of tape vertically across the lips (to under the chin), mot horizontally. I might give it a try

So after my face lift last year, i had to sleep on my back and with a chin strap around my head, which kept my mouth closed all night. It was TRANSFORMATIVE not only since sleeping on my back is good for skin health but I had no idea it wasn’t normal to awaken off and on all night with dry mouth, disrupting my sleep constantly since I was a child. For 8+ months now, I wear a soft neck “brace” each night. It’s soft and it Velcros closed. I ensure I take my allergy meds before sleeping and now I get 8 hours straight of sleep now! Yes, it takes time to get used to it but I wouldn’t give it up for anything. To be able to sleep the entire night through…amazing.

Hi beautiful, you are a tropper🙏🙏🙏😜 this definitely not for me. I do get panic attacks😂 so something restricting my breathing, cant end up well🤪 now i do practice breathing cleanse. I read this book, some years ago. My hubby bought me this Russian scientist book, in the beginning of our relationship. The book is about health, and healing remedies, including cleansing different organs, food combining, etc… these remedies are familiar, to me, since i grew up under Soviet occupation/ communism… So its a lot familiarities , in our cultures. So in the book was one paragraph, about breathing, and how shallow we are breathing. We should breath only a few times per minute. So when i am watching tv, or doing something on my phone or computer, and especially if i want to go to sleep, i do those exercises. With closed mouth i inhale, slowly and all the way to the top, then i keep my breath for around 30 seconds to 1 minute, and then slowly breath out with open mouth, all the way to i feel abdomen contraction. I do also with closed mouth, and with closing one side of the nose as well. So as soon as you breath that way, for a few minutes, you start yawing. It calms you down, if you stressed . And we cleanse our bodies that way. The book is in English, and its my favorite, from all health booksi have. He also talks about structured water, ( you put regular water in the freezer, and once its almost freezes, you break the ice, and drink water underneath) that increases our longevity. Also there is segment about calories. He claims that there is certain amount of calories are meant for our lifetime, so the less calories, we consume , the longer we are going to live. The boom title is something “ can we live to 100 years old” 😳😉Have a blessed day🙏❤️

Hi gorgeous . I have been using Mouth tape , not consistently , for over a year now . I do feel they have made a huge improvement in my sleep and more rested . There still are nights no matter what I do to help me sleep I just don’t . I use the ones that are like an x , I don’t think I could wear one over my whole mouth . I put my lip oil on early so it’s well absorbed and they stick all night . I skip when I micro-needle my lips . Thank you for sharing your experience and hope you find peace and results in your quest for a better sleep. 😴

Hey Claudia! ⭐️😊Another wonderful video… It seems you and I think alike lately!😊 I’ve been using Somnifix mouth tape for the last year and a half, and have found it beneficial for me personally. My problems were a little bit different. I started it because of snoring. my jaw would drop back and I would breathe through my mouth -just because it was easier and end up snoring. I would wake up several times throughout the night with a completely dry mouth and often my sinuses would hurt from snoring. The mouth tape stays pretty well on my mouth if I get my skin care some time to dry and blot around my mouth before I apply it. I haven’t taken data on any sleep, but I know I wake up less from dry mouth, so it has to be a better quality, I figure! as an aside, I do feel rested and sleep between eight and nine hours per night! I think for various reasons this method could work for people, but understand that it may not work for everyone! I’m sorry I didn’t give you more of the quality sleep, you definitely deserve!❤❤ thank you again for your research and always putting things to the test with such great consistency and responsibility! You truly are one of my favorites and have changed many of my habits!😊😊 ❤❤

I can’t say that I sleep better doing this, but it does help with dry mouth, so for me, it’s worth it. I want to ask you to follow up on the growth products, specifically peptides for skin care. I did a bit of research. I found that most of the peptides are used for medical purposes, most are unstable and hard to keep fresh, and at best introduced by an injections. Do you know of any specific injectables that work for collagen rejuvenation? any specific creams or serums, that actually work and recommended by professionals. Thank you in advance!
