HOW MUCH DO MANUFACTURERS SPEND FOR AN OFFICIAL IP RATING?
ОтветитьIP00: No protection, indoor use only.
IP68: Dust tight and long period of deep water immersion.
Thank you for the explanation!! It was clear and easy to understand!!
ОтветитьHonestly I couldn't care less anymore if these things existed. Be careful with your expensive devices. I know people who have dropped their phones inside the toilet among other places. I use my device without a case half of the time and no insurance. Why? Because if most people think about it they likely have never used their insurance but have spent hundreds of dollars on it.
ОтветитьI have the LG G8 Thinq and let me tell you im always listening to music on my phone while im doing everything. It fell in the washer once and i didn't notice until i was looking for it and couldn't find it. It wasn't until i emptied the washer i saw it. With the always on display still on. Music still playing through my Bluetooth earbuds. Wiped it off and just continued using it like it was nothing. Its so backwards for ALL phones not to have this feature and its why i Haven't bought a new phone as yet
ОтветитьOne day I will get iphone 69
ОтветитьVery important as well as wireless charging.
ОтветитьTo me it is important. I like protection. Last 3 phones were rugged ones. CAT B15 was piece of shit. It was resistant to water and drops but it had weak battery, weak speakers, shitty camera, it overheated. Now I am using Blackview BV7000 Pro and its good. Loud speakers, good battery, water and drop resistance, it is not too bulky like rest of the rugged devices, ok camera in daylight. It has some cons. Oversensitive buttons and it is too wide for my hands.
ОтветитьJust two days ago I accidentally jumped into a pool with my pixel 3a in my pocket, it couldn't have been in the water for more than fifteen seconds but it got totally fried. So I bought a new phone, and this time I paid attention to ip ratings. So they have very much made a difference in my choice.
ОтветитьBased on experience waterproof phones are better. I can use it when biking while raining as much as swimming and taking videos underwater
ОтветитьWhat's the difference between IP67 and IP68? My S5 is 67, my Note9 is 68. But I've read that for both they write 1h 30meters in water.
ОтветитьMy 130$ Phone has splash resistant
ОтветитьI don't need IP ratings in my phone. Its useless anyway. Don't want to pay $50 or more for that.
Thanks for such videos
Isn't 5 ATM water proof to depths of 50 meters? Almost all premium smart/sport watches have 5 ATM
ОтветитьI once saw the editor in chief of a tech website vehemently argue that an IP rating is not a measure of water resistance. 😂
ОтветитьIn NYC where it rains or snows randomly especially winter, ip68 is a boon to have and important to me using an s10+ especially if you use it in those conditions.
ОтветитьI dropped my samsung and iPhone 7 plus into the pool for testing, no issue accept charging when port are wet which solved by wireless charging.
As a biker, i need IP rating.
Very good and informative news about ip, atm, & dust, certification. Keep up the good work brother.
ОтветитьI know of 2 legit waterproof phones, that survived being submerged (by accident) in water - despite them being NOT IP rated! These are: Sony Ericsson K600i and Bluboo Edge. I still have both and they still work to this day. The trick is to immediately shut them off, take the battery out (SE K600) and put the battery and the phone in a jar full of rice, so the rice can absorb the moisture. Putting the jar on a heat radiator speed up the drying process and lower the risk of moisture damaging the electronics.
ОтветитьI'm using Xperia Z3 plus ( almost 5 years old flagship) it has IP68 and it's awesome to use in rains ... Under fresh water like shower , bathtub etc .. I love this option
ОтветитьWell, what does ip69k mean??
ОтветитьMy nokia 920 have no ratings but it. Survived 5 meater water for 10 minutes back in 2011 and hard as a rock
ОтветитьMust be shown some physically test
ОтветитьIP rating is definitely a criteria i look for in a smartphone. Have used mobile phones for about 20 years now. Starting with the motorola startac. I have generally been careful with phones. And ever since the advent of smartphones i have a case on them for protection. I did however drop my LG V30 in a pool one time. And i felt so glad it had the IP rating. Its been over a year since the pool incident and the phone has no complaints whatsoever. It is just one incident in 20 years(apart from accidental drops and spills) but that one incident in the pool convinced me that any phone i pick up in the future should have an IP rating.
ОтветитьJizz adhesion rating
ОтветитьI was using noble phone "in the most of the British of conditions" long before IP ratings. Don't know what you are talking about
ОтветитьI go swimming with my note 10 plus sometimes, works awesome. Just clean it with fresh water from the sink after.
Ответитьi used to go swimming in a pool with my Galaxy S5 in my pocket.
the phone still works perfectly!
I never had a phone which has an IP rating and none of them died from either dust or water. Unless you have a need to use it underwater, say for underwater photos or videos, and that requires at least IPx7 (better in IPx8, but not in IPx9K), I don't think most normal conditions require it. For water, most phones can survive light to mid rain. Dust is rarely encountered unless in some specific areas, so today it rarely jams any phone component.
ОтветитьHello.I think the IP rating are important nowdays, because to everyone could happen to drop their phone on water.Who says that midranger phoned are not with IP rating standarts ? There are some OEM which made rugged phones, with midrange specs.I have from 2 month now a Cat phone, the S52 model,a rugged phone with mil std specs and IP68 standart, and i'm very happy with that.Thank you.
ОтветитьIP RATING is one of the important feature. Smart phone brands has to give IP certication to all their smart phones....
ОтветитьI thought IP means Increased Price. 😂
ОтветитьSomething also to bear in mind is that 'water resistance' ability deteriorates in time. Also if your phone has been repair by non-professionals, they may have destroyed the water seals without you knowing. For example, my mate sent his iPhone 7 to someone for repair. Because that guy broke the seal in order to access the internals, and didn't replace that seal (I think it was an adhesive layer) that the phone's screen went yellow after exposing to water.
Ответитьphones are too darn expensive already
ОтветитьI had s9 plus which is ip 68. I put it in a jug of water for 5 mins. It water damaged and I lost all my data and my phone. Please do not put your phone in water for fun
ОтветитьMy phone one but I dont completely believe it.
ОтветитьI think having IP68 ratings are pointless if the manufacturer doesn't include water and dust ingress damage in its warranties. It only increases the cost of the phone without actually guaranteeing how water resistant it is. More like, "just take my word for it," which defeats the purpose of the certification.
ОтветитьI had ipx7 rating on my moto g3 (2015) back then and I switched to redmi note 5 pro only to go backwards
ОтветитьIMO IP doesn't matter, just a marketing strategy from smartphone companies to bump up the ridiculous price!
Hit by raindrop and water splash doesn't cause any problem so far I haven't had an issue with it although my phone doesn't have IP ratings or whatsoever and still manage to work flawlessly. And who submerge their smartphones under the water anyway? That's no brainer, you know it's fragile and break easily!
Could have covered IPX4 sort of ratings for head/earphones.
ОтветитьFor me, I would rather have a lower price phone over IP68 certification. I always take care of my phone and even though I have an IP68 phone, I have never once put it near water like a pool or ocean or tub. Sure it's useful to have, but not a requirement for my phone purchasing.
ОтветитьAlmost correct, but: Manufacturers claim MIL-810G compliance even if their device only passes one out of the 21 or so test of the standard. So it's not that useful of a claim actually.
ОтветитьI like the choice of phone in the thumbnail. Most people have forgotten about Samsung Note 8 tbh
ОтветитьI wish somebody will release a phone like my Samsung Note 4 where I can still replace the battery myself. I am sure there are a lot of people out there that will never get their phones wet.
ОтветитьUnfortunately learnt by the hardest way that it's necessary.
ОтветитьUsing S20...yes ip rating is important as its a costly device...if accidentally phone falls in water then it will survive...& i need to know this information ...that it will survive...
ОтветитьI don't see it as a must have since I don't expose my phone to water, if ever. But I do like having ease of mind and accidents happen so it's a nice feature to have and I can appreciate the added protection.
ОтветитьI think that IP ratings are important, but if you don't have to put your phone in water, you shouldn't, there's a reason it's not covered by warranty. It's good for things like taking your phone into the bathroom to listen to some music and not have to worry if it gets a little wet.
ОтветитьFrom my point of view, IP ratings are very important. Hopefully, most if not all, mid-range cell phones shall have high IP ratings in the near future. My current phone does not come with a high IP rating and all the time I must be very careful while using and carrying it.
