This was very helpful, thank you! Most watercolor painters I've seen for floral and landscape start with the light and work towards the dark. That seems counterintuitive to me in some cases. As you said, the darks dictate where the lights will be, and that is also in keeping with what I've learned in oils and, in some ways acrylic. To me, it's much more intuitive to put in the darks first and form the lights around that than it is to try to be super subtle with the whites and lights and work down with glazing to the darks. Makes more sense to me. Dark to mid-tones is easier to see. Besides, if you end up coloring over your lights, you always have gouache to bring them back. Thanks again.

NO! You know you could have still used those paints, right? What a shame that you dumped them. You know, you could have covered that pan with cling wrap or Saran wrap and kept them in their pans until you wet them again ... or just simply wet them with a sprayer until they glued themselves in the pan again.

Why would you destroy perfectly fine watercolour palet?!
It gets diluted by water and cracks heal, especially if you use them frequently and keep it moist.
To everyone ho starts out there don't throw your precious watercolours

How does one possess such talent? And please don't tell me it's "practice". I've tried to improve at art for years, I've decided today is my final day of trying. I'm currently binning all my art supplies. I've come to the conclusion it is simply talent, and I clearly do not possess it.
