It's amazing how the sound of the Merlin is carried on both sides of the Atlantic , from The Spit and The Mustang.
ОтветитьFukkin wild! WOuld so love to see/hear/witness this in person. So damn cool!!
Ответитьthank you Jay, that's so over the top!!
ОтветитьThe heart put into this car is humbling.
As RR is now owned by BMW.
I do not think they would make the fuss over using a RR grill and spirit on your car.
It is amazing.
As you said it is a full Rolls Royce .
Keep up the great work Jay
Thank you Jay and all the men and women in our armed forces. ☮️
ОтветитьSo are you saying that a Packard Merlin is built with Whitworth hardware? I would have thought they used SAE.
ОтветитьThe Merlin is the greatest ICE engine ever made.
ОтветитьI see he has his Abarth just behind him , got to love um.
ОтветитьThe only thing missing from the dashboard is an altimeter.
ОтветитьThis is my favorite car in his collection, would be a hard choice between his Mclaren f1 and this.
ОтветитьThat's not a big block - THIS is a big block!
ОтветитьThis is what happens when someone has more money than brains 😂
ОтветитьGotta be nice to have the resources to do this kind of stuff. Jay earned his money, and is enjoying the ability to pursue his dreams.
Good for him.
And good for him for sharing his passion with the rest of us. I, for one, have learned soooooo much from his videos.
I really enjoyed the comments on this RR from Jay being such a car enthusiast as I am. He laid it out as it is. No BS and totally his point of view as I’m a performance kind of guy. However the glove fit the hand perfectly when he mentioned the ladies hair and what they would like in a comfort drive to a formal engagement. Just loved his humor and straight forward talk. Enjoy the ride and the new era of Rolls Royce. I learned quite a bit from the gentlemen explaining the features and details of this fabulous and meticulously well build piece of art in the automotive industry.
ОтветитьWow!
ОтветитьJay, the most incredible car in your collection. Thank You!
ОтветитьThis is just my opinion, ive owned my share of low riders and some that were lower than low riders and I've experienced quite a bit of dragging and I starting adding rollers and they didn't stop the dragging bit helped save the parts that were hitting.
ОтветитьThe “Engine That Won World War II” I think it’s called so sweet!!! Jay Leno has a 1934 Rolls with a Merlin too but this one looks cooler in my humble opinion
ОтветитьPerks of being a millionaire car enthusiast. You have the time to tinker with your own cars whenever you want, but if it's something really hard or you're lazy you can just pay someone to do it for you, like swapping out a gear box.
ОтветитьVery nice.
ОтветитьBuilt by Packard. That says a lot about Packard.
ОтветитьBrilliant video jay,great job
ОтветитьJay gave use a glimpse back when men were men.💪🏽
Ответитьi remember that they used these engines in unlimited hydroplanes in the 70s
ОтветитьNot a car guy, but that one is cool
ОтветитьI love the boys and their toys
ОтветитьJohn Dodd would be impressed 😊
Ответить"This restoration took the better part of 20 years."
Is there anyone else on earth that would have, and could have brought this car up to it's current amazing condition?
I am not into a lot of the cars of this vintage. To me, they look like big chunks of lumber with wheels, despite all the beautiful finishes. But this one looks spectacular, and seems to be asking you to drive it.
ОтветитьThis is the most beautiful car I have ever seen. It brought me to tears.
Ответитьif Batman was a British Aristocrat.....
Ответитьthe only thing that is missing is the mascot on the Radiator cap (Miss Eleanor Thornton, the immortal Flying Lady)
ОтветитьTo state that U.S. didn't know about metric back then was obsured.
ОтветитьGlorious!!! Brilliant!!! Powerfully Beautiful!!!
Well Done, Jay and Crew!!!!
Jay Leno is a rare treasure. He has every right to enjoy every car in his collection no matter how unique or expensive.
ОтветитьJay Leno is a sell out like all wiggs who sell out the rolls royce engin to the rucky miggs.
ОтветитьJay is "the king" of car enthusiasts!
He loves and appreciates his cars and the best bit is ,he drives them!
Long may he continue to do so!
All the best from the Uk !
I have that same NV5600 6 speed in my Dodge 2500 Cummins 4x4 and after spending $5000 to get it rebuilt by reputable trans shop it froze up after 2 yrs and less than 15k miles because they have a main shaft lube deficiency that, apparently, only some. Shops know about. So another $5k plus shipping to a shop that knows a proprietary method of getting lube to that rear main shaft bearing. It’s a wonder any one buys US made products when they don’t last. Since Gale Banks supplied Jay his trans, I’m guessing it’s been modded to handle the torque. I have a larger turbo and Industrial Injection I2 injectors but I’m on stock tune and at 75 years old, I granny shift and never intentionally roll coal, so really disappointed in NewVenture that can’t build a stronger trans to handle Cummins diesel’s 🤬🤬🤬
ОтветитьI wish they would show the inside of the motor because it looks like Tiffany jewelry with needle bearing rockers, etc.
ОтветитьThe P-51 Mustang originally had an Allison engine. But that engine was replaced by a Rolls Royce Merlin. That engine made the P-51 the premiere fighter-escort in WWII. Many of the Merlin engines were made under license by Packard in America. An interesting connection between Jay’s Packard 12 cylinder car and the Rolls with the Merlin engine.
ОтветитьYup the engine that helped win the wor❤
ОтветитьI can't c a problem with calling a rr cuse it is
ОтветитьHehe.... snort snort...he said MAN-ual GEARBOX...I've heard rumours
ОтветитьGreat invention
