ОтветитьThis is so true about parenting! However bad you feel, you still have to go about your responsibilities. Great podcast! Very useful indeed. My favourite one is "to be under the weather". Didn't know it before to be honest.

Ответитьin place where I from we use a phase "to add the fuel to the fire" differently, we usually say "do not add the oil to the fire".
ОтветитьI was very surprised or almost stunned when I heard the phrase "cold hands - warm heart." It's incredible how people living in different countries and cultures use the same saying.
ОтветитьExcellent explanation. My English is better with your help. Thanks so much ❤

ОтветитьGreat content ❤️
ОтветитьI smiled when you said you have cold hands and it means a warm heart, because I feel I am the same, plus my feet are also very cold, my mum calls them "frog feet", so I always wear a fluffy, warm socks on them, in every season except very hot weather.
Thank you for your lovely videos, I am a big fan of them.🥰
Great content! Amazing podcast. I started listening to it after your podcast with Luke. Therefore, my favourite expression is "pinky promise", because I couldn't understand, what my 4 yo daughter was saying to me. She attends a Canadian daycare and knows English better than me. Thank you for your help, Anna. Winter vocabulary and your explanations are wonderful! I have already watched the video twice

Ответить~~~~ Marieke ~~~~
When the yellow-eyed owl
At night August middle
With a long, sounding wail
Is calling for her male
The good people in town
With a happy smile on
Are aware that this call,
This is not the night owl ...
They say: "Look, this is Marieke
Who has found another dick
The lure of the gamekeeper
It's a true woodcock trapper".
Parishioners say, adjusting their hood
It's the only thing that does her good".
And when the winter comes
Under the first snowfalls
With a blow of a knife
We are bleeding the swine
Is it the beast dying
From whom come these loud shrieks?
These heard behind the church
Don't fool the worshipers;
They say: "Look, this is Marieke
Who has found another dick
It's that of shepherd Hendrick
It's a good change from his sheep".
Parishioners say, putting back their hood
It's the only thing that does her good".
She brought to Africa
Her husband Joshua
Who thought he heard at dusk
An elephant barrum
But this long savage cry
That ferocious clamour
The village warriors
They just knew it by heart
They said: "Look, this is Marieke
Who has found another dick
For sure the great sorcerer's
Who stirs her couscousmaker
In unison they said, striking their bamboos
"It's the only thing that does her good"
In a transatlantic
Once on their return trip
They came across whales' flocks
Chanting their cries of love
But in the dusky night
These supplicated cries
Sailors recognised them
As well as the yachtsmen
They said: "Look, this is Marieke
Whom the Captain is teasing
in principle, at this time
He makes her smoke from his pipe".
Resigned sailors said looking at the floods:
"It's the only thing that does her good"
Feeling that death is near
She said to her lover
I want an oak coffin
With sweetcorn all over
This innocuous prayer
Was certainly answered
From then on at the vault
When you hear a chuckle,
They say: "Look, this is Marieke
Who has found another dick
Her lovers they were not wrong
She can make dead get hard ons".
Parishioners say, putting back their hood
It's the only thing that does her good".
Yet this dissolute life
Has brought her to the sky
To face wraths and thunder
Of the good old Father
By the porter received
She shouted a long cry
As she grappled his beard
But then the Angels smiled
They said: "Look, this is Marieke
Who has found another dick
It's Saint Peter probably
Trying out his master key".
And the Good Lord said: "Holy cow!
I will have to try this somehow".
The Good Lord said quite in the mood:
"This can only but do me good!"
