The Compass Quartet debuts Jacob Head's arrangement of a Beatles medley in their 2nd annual Spring Concert at Life Bridge. As with all of our music and other videos on youtube, we strive to encompass the largest variety of music that we can, doing everything from Christmas music, to popular, classical and sacred. This medley contains three popular Beatles hits. As always, we own no rights to these songs, and are crediting the compositions to their rightful composers/artists. We use this music for entertainment purposes only!

If you would like details about the sharing/purchasing availability of this or other arrangements, as well as custom arrangements, contact the group at [email protected]

Our Bio:

On October 1st, 2009, Jacob Head decided to turn the idea of having his own music group into a reality. Choosing Kate Tyree, Tom Coovert and Lindsey (Addison) Becker as the original members in the fall of his freshman year at the U of L School of Music, the quartet performed at many venues around downtown Louisville such as the Muhammad Ali Center and the KY Center for the Performing Arts. The quartet also hosted a "Strings of the Season" concert at Life Bridge Christian Church, an event that has become an annual Christmas tradition. With welcoming James Stinnett and Geoff Britton on board in early 2011, the quartet performed its first "pops" music concert and released its first Christmas album: "A Christmas Collection," which was received very well. In mid 2012, James shared his decision to join the United States Navy, moving with his wife Brittney up to Groton, Connecticut, where he is now stationed. The quartet was then able to welcome Kate Tyree back into the group for the remainder of the 2012 season, playing six weddings in five different towns and performing at more Christmas events. The quartet has also performed at the Olmstead, the Galt House, the Frazier Arts Historical Museum, the 21c hotel, the Owl Creek Country Club, the University of Louisville Medical School, Treyton Oak Towers, the Trinity World Outreach Center, the Friendship House for the elderly, and has been very influential in their collaboration with Fern Creek-Highview United Ministries, performing at events such as the annual "Pennies From Heaven" Gala in 2011, 2012, and 2013.
The group is available for any events such as weddings, dinners, socials, meetings, fund-raisers, or any event that could use us! Jacob is also open to arranging nearly anything for the quartet, as nearly all of what we play are arrangements that he has put together!

About the Musicians:

Jacob Head will be starting his ninth semester as a U of L Music School student this fall, a Music Therapy Major. He has been arranging and composing music for concerts and groups since 2008, mostly for The Compass Quartet. He is currently the worship leader at Life Bridge Christian Church, and hopes to continue bringing joy to others through the music he creates. Aside from playing the violin, Jacob also enjoys playing the guitar, bass guitar, piano, mandolin and ukulele. He is a 2009 graduate of Atherton High School in Louisville, Kentucky.

Kate Tyree will also be beginning her ninth semester this fall at U of L, pursuing a Music Education degree. Kate is from Montgomery, Kentucky, having graduated from Montgomery County High School in 2009. In addition to teaching violin lessons and playing in the Compass Quartet, Kate is also the violinist for the bluegrass group Kentucky Kai Five, as well as a jazz bassist on the side.

Geoff Britton currently resides and works in his hometown of Winchester. Despite pursuing a viola Performance Degree at U of L for two years, he has now chosen to pursue life around the Fayette County area. Geoff also takes an interest in comedy, and spends his free time enjoying stand-up acts, whether it is watching them online or bringing his humor to rehearsals with the quartet. Originally from Minnesota, he now lives in Kentucky, a 2010 graduate of Lafayette High School in Lexington.

Lindsey "Addison" Becker is in her sixth and final year as a University of Louisville Music School student, pursuing a Bachelor's of Arts Degree in Music, with a minor in Japanese language. She aspires to someday use her minor to be a translator in Japan , possibly doing the JET Program, where she would be teaching English to Japanese students. She also plays the viola da gamba, a Renaissance instrument that is similar to a cello but has a different technique and tuning. Lindsey is a 2008 graduate of Ballard High School in Louisville.
