My workaround to not having to do the “running back and forth” strength training method was to use a simple mod that changes stone, iron and copper mining to build strength instead of labouring. streamlined the process because now I can send my off-duty warriors to help with resource collection while getting ripped in the process. Much slower but I feel it’s more realistic

Also put your men in peelers for easy robot limbs and toughness levels!

Plus medic levels for the people desperately attempting to keep them alive!

Gates don't work about 70% of the time, my guys constantly run through my closed gates in the bases like they are not locked

This game would take many months to complete and you would never reach a point of getting a character so strong that he can fight many enemies at a time. So i had to cheat even with my infinite regeneration character, the chosen five kept knocking me. You would waste 50% of your time traveling through the empty desert. This game is too grindy. Building materials my ass you will need hundreds of building material to just build a decent base.

Best way to make killbox gates is to place them in opposite directions so that when you place the walls connecting them they face inwards into the box and you can access them from inside the fort. That way the outer gate's walls have concave arcs of fire, and the inner walls have a killbox, best if the killbox is in water so the bandits have to swim while under heavy fire.

a good trick for building your strength and that is just to have the over encumbered person follow a person with haul tasks aka someone who runs all over the place

A single gate is all you need, if you have your base set in such a way that they have to swim up to the gate.
I have raids set to max and my current base can wipe every thing before the AI can reach my gate with 6 turrets.
