Are these videos targeted towards children? Just curious... They seem to present it for a kid but reference stuff kids would never know.. Not sure who their audience is.

If you watch "While You Were Sleeping" with the sound off and focus on clothes and interior design, you can predict who ends up with the girl.

I thought sure you were going to mention continuity there with "Last looks."

It's funny that the animation specifically references Lord of the Rings, when those movies have an infamous failure of mise-en-scene where cars can be seen in the background of some shots.

@87murthy - 27.10.2017 07:49

Is it just coincidence or intentional that when she said that mise-en-scene was very obvious-all the movie clips had only male characters whereas when it was subtle and realistic, the clips had only female characters. Was it supposed to mean anything? I smell some hidden agenda.

One of my pet peeves about movies -- almost all movies -- is the clothes are always new and clean. Not such a big deal in a movie set in an office, but weird when the film is set in the country or the wilderness. And don't get me started about perfect hair.

Re:. Hair dying vs wig. You can see this done poorly with Fan4stic.

The actress who played Susan Storm was wearing a wig for reshoots, and it is clearly noticeable in the final film. They should have gone with a wig the whole time.

Lily makes me release a massive dose of dopamine.
Her voice (tho lower-pitched), timing and the editing reminds me of Emily on The Brain Scoop which i love.
Cheers everyone on CC.

Another fantastic example of naturalistic film making is Kimberly Levin's "Runoff". It's a beautiful film and it feels so lived in.

For some reason this video doesn't mention the scene where Claire rubs herself down with dinosaur poop. I don't know why they'd leave that out, it was such essential cornerstone to the film. ;)

I can't tell if it's JUST that I'm super interested in this topic, or if it truly just flows so so much better than some other CC series. Probably a little bit of both. But I really love the pacing, inclusion of examples and references and the smoothness of the speaking/presentation of information. Really really well done.

Guys, the barber in this video is the same barber that was shown in the early episodes of Crash Course Philosophy!!! He's the dude who, according to the daft rule about shaving, he is not allowed to shave himself, because he can shave himself. Which is sad, because the first rule said that every man must be shaved to be in this town.

Biggest thing that jumped - Set Decorator doesn't equal a Scenic Designer - Production Designer > Art Director > Scenic Designer. The Production Designer utilizes their Art Directors to implement construction drawings from the Draftspeople (Set Designers / Scenic Designers). The Set Decorator is an entirely different department within the Art Department. They employ Buyers / Leadmen to shop/coordinate the furnishings for a set.

Just some advice. No one uses the word 'mise-en-scene' on set. Its a word that will almost guarantee that you are a film student. Know what it means in case it is mentioned but don't say it on set haha.
