TERRIFIED (ATERRADOS) Ending Explained (2017)

As an argentinian I'd like to point out three things that make this movie stand out from other argentinian media:

- Most media in argentina is set in either rich neighbourhoods or marginal heighbourhoods. It is very rare to see a movie take place in a mid-class neighbourhood that isnt the suburbs and that shows real life people in a real life light, which is the side of Argentina that isnt usually displayed on mainsteam media, mostly because stories try to take place in "exciting" or "surreal" places and try to cash in on the gorish side of each social class, but mid class people arent seen as "interesting" as the other settings could be. It is also such a simple type of neighbourhood that even though it is explicitly set un Buenos Aires, it could be set anywhere else in the country, which makes the movie even more popular as it could technically be set anywhere else.
- Many years ago the idea of neighbourhood had more to do with an idea of community, where every neighbour would know each other and would be in direct contact. Kids could play outside together, old people would sit down outside to watch these kids play or take in the sun, and many times during our grandparent's upbringing when a mother couldnt breastfeed, someone else would jump in to breastfeed the baby that needed help. A lot of that sense of community was lost as time went by, and with deliquency on the rise, it is even adviced to not talk to anyone because we can't trust anyone, not even your neighbours. A lot of the plot points in the movie could have been technically solved easily if the protagonists had any kind of true contact with their neighbours, but the way everyone is isolated despite living next to each other reflects an important detail about our current society over here.
- It is also known that we have a lot of folklore regarding monsters and paranormal entities, and the reason why hiding under the blanket "helps" its because most of the horror tales from my country have to do with kids who arent in bed when they have to be and will do naughty/dangerous things. Literally hiding in a bed or remaining there will prevent entities like the Cuco or the Solapa to take you away.

There are even more nods to argentinian's lore but these are the three main ones I could think of. Truly astounding movie.

Would love to see an ending explained for the recent film from the same director When Evil Lurks.

If they do anything else with this movie like a sequel or remake, i hope they can use some of the same actors. Especially Funes and Rosentock, i really liked those 2 characters/actors. And after seeing "When Evil Lurks", i like the actor who played Walter. He didn't have much time in this movie but he was great in the latest film!

My problem with this movie was that it just kept switching main characters every 25 or so minutes. Starts with Juan, goes to Walter, then Jano is focused on for a bit, then it jumps to the cop Funes, then back to the paranormal trio. Donald Sutherlands character doesn't get enough screen time, either.

Also the cop says he's leaving like 15 times and never actually does.

I really didn’t think the movie lived up to the hype. I’ve heard several people say it’s one of the best horror movies ever made. It was very good but not that good.

I finally watched this last night, and I thought it was very fun and interesting, though I sort of wish the final scene was not there

It's crazy how much better When Evil Lurks is than this movie. I'm glad the director IMMEDIATELY improved on the recipe.

Funny thing, I sometimes had to look at the english subtitles that came with the version I saw 'cause sometimes it doesn't matter if your native tongue is spanish, if you are not from one specific country (Argentina) you just don't get what they are saying from time to time

why do i feel like this takes place in the same universe as John dies at the end?

Man, the part where the nurse talks to the guy wigging out in the clinic office and she says the name of the patient currently with the doctor. That really bothered me for some reason. I get that it's movie logic, but no office ever gives out names or numbers, I mean, what's next, she's gonna hand over her file to the guy? Come on, even children understand patient-doctor confidentiality. Some random guy bursts in and the nurse is like, yeah the doctor is currently with Alex, he's 32, 6' tall and 160lbs. He's athletic, loves his dog and cat. He has 2 sons, and a wife named Sarah. Would you also like his address, phone number, and social? I mean come on dude. That shit irked me so fkn hard. Then, that same dumb ass nurse, inserts herself again! When he's talking to the detective and she corrects his lie like a complete bitch. She really pissed me off. The whole reason that cop died was because she made the doctor look guilty by catching him in a lie. What a fkn snitch man.

This is a seriously good movie. Truly. There's a scene with two little boys and omfg, it takes a lot to unsettle me but that moment is absolutely horrifying.

This movie was so confusing. I’ll be honest, I was very surprised to see they didn’t really hold back on the ghosts actually appearing even to the police but the pacing was so weird that I didn’t even feel scared. I just got left confused the entire time. Transitions in this movie were completely random and just a bunch of unfinished cuts. So I can here to see what the movie was in case I missed anything. I’d give this movie a 1/10 and not scary at all. Exorcists did not explain anything. They just said it’s normal and one of the exorcists isn’t even shown to be killed or anything, he’s just forgotten

I'm curious how his wife can hear one of the monsters speak in the beginning saying "I'm going to kill you" but the monsters don't communicate with anyone else throughout the movie. I wonder why 🤔
