Alpharius Omegon - Understanding 40K Lore (Alpha Legion)

Good one. Alpha Legion always tested my patience in the books with the slow peeling of the onion + cartoon-y scheming kind of vibe. However, it is significantly more compelling than the more straight forward legions whose primarchs had daddy issues.

The Alpha Legion is the best Legion. It is not evil to do what is necessary. Unfortunately Machiavellian thinking is NOT about doing necessary evil but an elaborate excuse for doing evil for the sake of evil. The bombig of Germany was horrible but necessary to beat the Nazis (ie to do the greater good). Exterminating African tribes to ensure colonial success is doing evil for the sake of evil.These questions are very well done in the Star War Prequals. Qui Gon understood the danger of simplistic 'goodness and purity' that denied human needs and imperfection like love (Anakin and Padme). In the end the Jedis themselves created the Sith. Just as the Emperor created the very Legions who betrayed him. Personally it seems Alpharius and Omega took opposite paths. Since Alpharius was killed Omega plays a Yoda like hidden leader role, doing what he can to help the humans survive in opposition to his now dead 'seen in the open' leader/brother did.
