Is there a positive or negative connection from the batteries to the metals (mass) on the boat like on cars?

They sold you a boat that is not fit for purpose and could of easily put both your lives at risk . Your being taken advantage of and because your both quite passive people they know this so just spin you a yarn.

Not a right place for a stopping… all that dirt-contamination in the airs.
I googled HH made in Xiamen, and Cebu, Philippines. That is the real troublesome for both of you as a newly owner.

So sorry you guys are having these crazy issues with your new dream boat. I swear to God, it seems like everything new turns to crap the minute it comes off the assembly line. I had first hand experience with this working in Ford dealerships the last 30 years. This is why I drive older vehicles and own an older diesel trawler. Garden tractor simple. Cheap to fix when and if it does break. Like I told all my friends before I retired, sell that new car before it goes out of warranty. There is a reason these car manufacturers are losing their asses in warranty expense. The boat manufacturers are no different.

So sorry to hear of your crushed dreams.
Like you I thought it was a great design.
It would appear that carbon fiber and an electrical boat is a very difficult design problem.
Damn shame you got caught up in the prototyping.

Cut your losses and demand a refund on this boat. I am sure you paid a pretty penny for this boat and to see all the failures makes you wonder if it will ever be right. It appears that HH is using your boat to figure out all of their construction issues. You need to be compensated!!

There is no way it's worth the trouble.

How the hell can a commercial boat builder NOT be aware of stray current in this build? With the hybrid part being electric, how can electrical engineers miss this?
Electrolysis is as old as electricity itself.
Scary stuff but then yet I'll never even own a hybrid car lol.

While this sucks hands down, people are very quick to jump to conclusions. It’s one of 3 that has been custom made to spec, it’s not a mass production unit that’s 5000 build later. This is just a part of custom builds. It is unfortunate though it seems you got the short stick for sure.

Stray current on a diesel engine usually comes from one of 3 places. 1) The battery charging rectifier has blown and needs replacing. 2) the alternator is faulty and is grounding on the engine. 3) Engines with control panels can sometimes have crossed wires and input a charge.
FYI... If the battery charging rectifier has blown, it can sometime also affect the alternator, so test this too!
Testing: For a 12v system it should only charge at a max at 13.8V and same coming out of the rectifier.
(Please be aware we normally work on generators, but thought this info might help you.)

why fix when the same thing will repeat? your attackers are trying to tell you the internet connected gps device they exploited is on your boat. you would have to disable or remove or turn off the device in the boat instrument cluster to win this ugly game.

I would consult with a metallurgical engineer familiar with carbon fiber in marine applications to ensure HH has taken the appropriate steps to protect your sailboat. The basic error they made would concern me that they did not address more complex problems.

FYI. Aluminum has a high potential for corrosion with carbon fiber. I used to work with metallurgical engineers in chemical manufacturing. Good ones are invaluable in preventing durability problems.
