ОтветитьHere are my thoughts: thanks for the video. You need to do the procedure on both front brakes left and right, because the system has 2 different circuits. Starting with the left side. It is good practice to also bleed the rear brakes, after the air is gone out of the two circuits of the master cyllinde.

ОтветитьThis is how you get air out of hydraulic systems on airplane flight controls with a return loop. Just run the actuator until the air escapes through the reservoir.

ОтветитьDo you have to do this for all four brake calipers or just the one closet to the master cylinder? Would placing the end of the tube in a catch bottle on the ground with the end submerged in fluid do the same thing as long as you are topping off the reservoir since no air would able to get back into the tube? or does having the tube above the fluid level in the reservoir allow the air to escape? After doing front left, can you then use a power bleeder to bleed to the other wheels? Hoping this will fix my sons car.

ОтветитьA video you made years ago just saved me a fortune on my BMW E60 M5! I replaced the ABS Module about 2 months ago & then went through the procedures of bleeded the ABS unit with an Autel computer. I also tried with the Schawben (BMW) pressure bleeder (JUNK)! Then I also tried the Harbor Freight Holt Vacum Bleeder (Good Product) I was able to get the rear calipers. I was going crazy! I couldn't get the air out of the front calipers! Then I saw this video, Needless to say it's 1130pm in Miami & I just finished the artbyrobot procedure! The Brakes are now PERFECT! You Saved my As* BIGTIME! Ty SIR!

ОтветитьI did me brakes, and rotor, and had an issue with my banjo bolt leaking, I was so frustrated, I just let all the fluid out without pinching the line figuring i need to flush my brake fluid anyways. Fortunately I found this video, and it's now been two years and my brakes still work with no issue. One thing to be aware of, if you are doing this, have a few big bootles of brake fluid. I used up over 2 bottles because I didn't know what I was doing. You can always return them if it's not open.

ОтветитьYeah so I mean that's not bleeding the master cylinder though that's just bleeding the rear caliper from the master cylinder's reservoir to bleed the master cylinder you have to connect to its lines not the reservoir am I wrong it's like this isn't at all like any of the other videos I watched LOL
ОтветитьSo, by the look of it, you can bleed each brake and the master cylinder (right rear & master cylinder, left rear and master cylinder, and so on) then call it a day. Or, is that overkill?

ОтветитьI've been fighting a brake problem since April on my Audi. I've changed the master, booster and vacuum pump and am now to the point to bleeding AGAIN. I rebled my master only to have all the fluid leak out while I attached the lines which are not easy. I was thinking about bleeding a master is just a return hose, why not attach the hose to the calipers? A little searching and I found your video - you confirmed my plan! I will get tubing tomorrow along with another quart of fluid and do it the simple way. As a suggestion, instead of the coffee filter why not use a small engine fuel filter spliced into your hose? Also, if you put your tubing on the ground plugging off the open end and then gently pry the other end off the bleeder you won't spill a drop - as long as the open end is lower than the bleeder end. Thank you in advance!
ОтветитьTwo problems with this. 1) You are bleeding your calibers not your master cylinder. 2) It's not recommended you reuse your brake fluid. Tiny air bubbles get stuck in reused fluid, especially with an empty tube.
ОтветитьHad to replace all my brake lines on my 2004 Tahoe. Got them on and the bastards won't bleed. Pretty sure it's because my first attempt to bleed them, I realized I forgot to refill the reservoir and I'm pretty sure I just pumped even more air into it.
Going to try this once I get home. Will update comment with results
The hose is a total waste of time. The master can be "bench bled" on the car without opening any of the bleeders, I've done it dozens of times. After it's bled then you can gravity bleed the calipers/wheel cylinders if needed. Gravity bleeding is where you open all the bleeders and drink a beer while gravity does all the work for you. If you have ABS and got air to it there's a chance that you'll have to activate it to bleed the air from it, but so far I haven't had to.

ОтветитьThe reason to not push the pedal all the way down is due to wear points on the master cylinder. When new. The bore was smooth and the same size. As it gets older it develops wear points when you step on the brake over and over again.
Since you never step on the brakes all the way to the floor. You are moving the seals past the wear point with a spongy pedal. This can damage the seal…..
Because the seal is essentially hitting that wear spot.
How much does this matter. Not much really. Is it really going to trash that seal.
I’ll put it like this. Your master cylinder is probably on its way out anyway if that’s the case.
This is also why I flush every 2-3 years.
Contaminants and water enter the system through wear and moisture. They become fine liquid sandpaper. They will over 20 years, wear down the bore and create this wear point.
Fluid flushed regularly won’t wear it at all because it’s always lubricating and when flushed. The contaminants leave the system. Transmission fluid 30-60k. Brake fluid 2 years.
Cars have a maintenance schedule.
Why risk putting old brake fluid from your caliper back into the master cylinder? You should only allow new fluid through there

ОтветитьThe tube is 3/16" ID ( internal diameter) and 5/16" OD (outside diameter) and he got it from Home Depot as the Everbilt brand and he got a ten foot piece. I had to look this up so everyone can find that info easily.
ОтветитьEven if you didn't need to bleed the master, just cycling the fluid thru the coffee filter to collect any debree should be a good maintenance thing to do. Thank you for uploading this.

Ответитьwhat is the difference between this and just bleeding the front left wheel cylinder? seems like the problem is still flushing out the air from the master ? submerging the hose in fluid so it doesnt such air back into the line is the key.

ОтветитьYou could accomplish the same thing by attaching a short length of hose to the caliper and put the other end into a bottle with enough fluid to submerge the end of the hose. As you filled the bottle you could just close the bleeder and empty the bottle back into the master. No need to fill up that long hose. That is actually a great way to bleed each caliper.

There is a little problem in the method, its that you re supposed to bleed the ''two'' lines in same time of the master cylinder, not just the front line who connect the front brakes but the line who connect the rear brakes aswell. The air cant escape the master if you bleed just one side, because the master have two lines, you know what i mean ?

Ответитьu dont need to do all that shit.., just pour a few inches of fluid in the bottom of a coke bottle, stick the hose in the bottom of the bottle, and tape the tube to the top of the bottle. then attach the other end to the brake caliper and pumpy pumpy
