way bettern than bizarre ugly modernist projects
ОтветитьPatriarch Bartholomew is NOT the spiritual leader of the Eastern Orthodox Church. He is just the Patriarch of Constantinople (Greece).
Ответитьcan you people stop throwing around the term "brutalism"? brutalism is a modernist style that started in England which cherished large, unadorned concrete walls, and its supposed to be reminiscent of the caverns that people lived in during the Paleolithic era. It also goes hand in hand with nature. Romania barely even touched modernism, we started the socialist blocks while the world was moving on to postmodernism. There is nothing brutalist about our buildings if you look at an actual brutalist structure. Just because something is large and made of concrete doesn't mean its brutalist.
ОтветитьU didn't build shit😂😂😂everybody knows
Ответитьevery time you build a world wonder in civ
Ответитьwe have a similar issue in Belgrade with the Church of Saint Sava. i'm not religious so i'm clearly biased, but seeing a structure like that soak up the money that the people could have used to improve their lives is very hard for me to support. not to mention that so many buildings in Belgrade are falling apart (including mine) but the people who live in them can't afford the repairs. so honestly, it just looks so out of place to have a massive, new structure like that while half the city around it is dilapidated with the government not willing to help.
to me these all just seem like vanity projects. surely a church doesnt need to be this large, grandiose and expensive to serve its purpose

ОтветитьYeah.......sounds like some politicians are trying to secure votes.
ОтветитьAs an Orthodox American, I would love to visit with my family. May God bless Romania!
ОтветитьBetter than spend 300 billions for an useless war against Russia.
ОтветитьYes I know real Dacian language angry insults against Dutch thieves that stole our Dacian gold masterpiece national identity treasures
ОтветитьIt is not your problem what Romania does with its own money! God bless Romania !
ОтветитьWonderful
ОтветитьPublic funding of churches. This is the problem I have with National Churches like the Orthodox, Catholic, Church of England, and even other religions. In the US this would be a non-starter with the separation of church and state. It wouldn't even be considered for a Nano-second. I know of big Protestant churches where I am from that did cost millions of dollars, but they raised it all themselves and trusted God for the money. The Catholic and Orthodox churches have a long, long, long history of being state churches and sucking up endless amounts of loot for larger, bigger, better, more beautiful cathedrals at public cost. Remove that funding and see how things fare. You'd probably find they don't trust God as much as they think they do when having to come up with the coin themselves.
ОтветитьI saw it, it is very beautiful!
ОтветитьWe need to have our own national Cathedral. We will highlight our own identity after centuries of subjugation under Ottoman, Russian or Austro-Hungarian rule. In the mid 20'th century in the Communist Romania lots of Churches were destroyed.
Voices that are telling otherwise (including Romanians) that we do not need to do this Cathedral, can go to either Rome/Vatican St Peter or Paris or London or Moscow etc. All States Capital cities have their own identity by having their own Cathedrals.
Why Bucharest cant be among those cities?
This gives me one more reason to go to Romania.
Ответить😢God bless romania!!
ОтветитьIt's the prison where we'll put human traffickers in, lock every exit, ground ones also, and letting them starve there?
ОтветитьWay better than pride events
ОтветитьCorrection is not the biggest is the tallest.
Ответитьwe made only 4 hospitals from 1989 but at least we are building the biggest church ....
ОтветитьChrist is risen!
ОтветитьJew jew jew
ОтветитьWe built the Parliment's building and the MegaCathedral back to back, so the rest of the world can see that we are stupid from both sides. 🔥🤌🏻
Ответить"It seems that the authorities are more interested in investing in our well-being in heaven rather than here on earth"
Well... duh... and... Good, eternal life or a max of 130 years of comfort here?
Special Pensions for politicians that sum around tens of thousand of RON/EUR and subsidies given to the Church (B.O.R) , whilst students live in rodent infested accomodation, lack general rights regarding transport discounts, (you only get a train discount if you buy a ticket from your university town to your hometown and viceversa, every other ride is full price), the highways promised remained just promises, the prices for rents and food and the usual things equal those of germany or denmark or holland whilst having not even a third of the salary. We have a saying here: Beautiful country, too bad its populated. The Cathedral is named The Cathedral of the People's Redemption (Catedrala Mântuirii Neamului), altough we call it Catedrala Bântuirii Neamului, The Cathedral of People's Haunting.
ОтветитьRomania will do everything for orthodoxy. As this is the loved religion all over Romania. There is a quote here also : otthodoxy or death
ОтветитьNext: Romania will build the largest Casino in the world
ОтветитьThey will get same sex marriage
ОтветитьI wish america would build a 7 zillion dollar mega building
ОтветитьI love all mega projects. Build build build
ОтветитьPay off?
Depends on how you measure. The minimalistic brutalistic architecture that dehumanizes needs the opposite and that's why the location and that's why the immense beauty that Orthodoxy sees as one with truth and reality. As dostoyevsky said the world will be saved through beauty.
In Romania there is also the tallest wooden church in the world - Săpânța-Peri Monastery church (78 m)
ОтветитьBeen to Bucharest 5 years ago and the room I booked was vis a vis of this church. It looked massive and beautiful, even under construction back then, especially when the sun rised set and rised and surrounded the church with a golden orange light.
ОтветитьReligion…always a waste. What a scam.
ОтветитьAs a pride NON-multicultural society and a NATIONAL state, with almost 90% of the 19 millions inhabitants declared as Christian orthodox, we're pride of this church. God bless Romania an Romanians !!
ОтветитьDuring the Crusades, European crusaders constantly plundered Istanbul, Hagia Sophia was in ruins, Byzantium could not maintain Hagia Sophia, and conqueror Sultan Mehmet Khan, who conquered Istanbul in 1453, bought Hagia Sophia. If it wasn't for the Ottoman Empire, it would have been destroyed long ago. The Orthodoxs did not do the same thing; they destroyed thousands of historical Ottoman mosques in the Balkans.
ОтветитьJesus is not a god, he is just a prophet of god. They blended true Christianity with pagan Rome and created a new false religion that deified the prophet Jesus.
ОтветитьJesus is not a god, he is just a prophet of god.
ОтветитьAnd what is your problem? Romanians have the right to believe in whatever they want and build whatever they want in their country! I find it rude to even talk about it.
Is it the fact that this is a Christian site and not something else that would agree with foreigners who have no call to judge us? Go to your country and do the math there for your stuff. Leave Romanians to worry about their problems.
Can't wait to visit it❤
ОтветитьWhile I would rather the money be spent on infrastructure or green intitatives, it is certainly not worthless, and hopefully, it will pay off.
ОтветитьIt s not the great orthodox church!!! That is another press lie!!!
ОтветитьThe correct religion, not a moment too soon!
