So well put together. I'm running my first NYC Marathon in less than two weeks and understanding how it came about and the life of the man behind it makes it so much more special. Thank you Fred Lebow for leaving such an incredible legacy!

Honestly, we could have left the holocaust and the womanizing on the cut room floor. It wasn't necessary. Lebow and the NYC Marathon it was really important.

This is the most beautiful story! I started running in 1963 and this brought back so many memories of those early days of running. Thank you for this wonderful documentary about an amazing man!

I used to admire Fred Lebow . Not anymore after this movie. Can’t believe what he told Ann Roberts, about go in front of me, so the other girls would not think we were together. Ann was 20 years younger. I see extremely disrespectful to a young lady. She is
A gorgeous woman when the movie was made. Imagine 30 plus years ago & he was 20 years older & not good looking At all. But I
Should see the movie about what he has done for running &
Not about he chasing the young girls.

Did the NYC marathon in 1994 - just after Fred had died. Still go the t-shirt...! Highlights of the day - the AMAZING support of all the people through the Bronx, the nuns outside the convent with their brass band belting out Onward Christian Soldiers, not coming last (although that would have been something to put on my CV!) and the whole event being one huge and fantastic experience. One and only road marathon for me. Worth every step.

Have you ever wondered what your purpose in life is? If all of human history will one day be destroyed, than does your legacy really matter? Does what your putting all of your effort into make a difference in the long run? The answer is yes it does but probably not for the reason you think. God is eternal and he created you as an eternal being and so your purpose is actually eternal. You were made for relationship. God thinks relationship is so important that he actually died on a cross to show how serious he is about wanting a relationship with you. You see God is love and the only way that you can love someone is by knowing the source. He gives you a new heart as you surrender your old heart to Him. So if you want to know what this is like I invite you to right now ask God for forgiveness. Turn away from your sinful lifestyle and give your heart to the one who cares. Jesus has changed my life and he wants to change yours too. If you have a bible I encourage you to read the gospel of John and ask God to change your heart.

Have a blessed day!

I dont know if Fred remembered me, but we definitely crossed paths many times in NYRRC races. I was there when the race went to all five boroughs. I remember NOT able to get into the NYC Marathon for some reason and I mailed a letter to him and said how can a GREEK not be allowed entry into the NYC Marathon. After all we gave the world the Olympics and the marathon and I was born the city state capital of Pyrgos where the Olympics were born. As a result of my letter, I got entry into the NYC Marathon and ran it some four times. Thank you Fred! I remember you buddy! I shall never, ever forget you!

I had no idea what to expect watching this video. I didn't even realize that it was about Central Park in NY. I LOVE Central Park. I created a half and full marathon and women's run walk mini skirts, and there is a park in Clearwater Florida that reminds me of Central Park. What a beautiful inspiring movie here. I am so excited to watch all of these ideas come together.

My claim to fame.....I was volunteering at the NYRRC in the summer of 1980, when they were still in the West Side YMCA. One night, it got late and I didn't feel like taking the subway/bus back to NJ. So, I slept on a cot in Fred's office. I woke up in the middle of the night--covered in roaches. Never did that again!
