my worst plagerism is when i would redraw (not trace, so i thought it was okay) art that id seen online as a teenager. Honestly it made me a better artist for doing it but i was definitely trying to pass them off as my own which i cringe at the thought of now.
Ответить.... "Some or ton" scale, im mad im just now understanding that at the end of the video
ОтветитьWhen I was young I made up a story with a friend, there was a name I liked and thought sounded original. Years later, I found out it was the name of a focal WoT character, a series I'd picked up and dropped around the same time, but by then I'd long since abandoned the story. Even later on, I saw the name was a company's on the side of the building within 3 blocks of my old house. Whoops! Turns out it wasn't unique, just old and British. I wasn't sure where my brain picked up the name, all I knew is I didn't invent it lol
ОтветитьIn year 9 for part of my coursework I took a stupid script for a fake episode of Teletubbies where they all kill each other that a friend (a year or two earlier and at a different school) had written and passed around, typed it up pretty much verbatim and handed it in. I got a B and regret nothing. Probably meant I had a few more hours to play Half Life instead of doing homework so I'm sure I was over the moon.
Also this happened about 25 years ago and I think this might be the first time I've ever admitted what I did to anybody.
I write, for funsies, and I try to be very open with where I get my inspiration. That without those original works, my creations would not even exist. Even as a little child, it was drilled into my brain that plagiarism is very wrong and I still hold true to that. I have had my work plagiarized, beat for beat, and it sucks. It made me feel like my work, and by extension myself, was a major joke.
Seriously, if wanna do something with someone's work, do your best to make it somewhat original without straight up copying it. Or just ask! Seriously, it never hurts to get permission from whatever you're sourcing your stuff from, cause you'd be surprised by how chill people, especially indie, are
I never ever watch ads and skip past them, but that surfshark one was too good to pass up
ОтветитьTomska being a real one for not recognizing who made harry potter. I have the joy of sharing with you that it was actually HATSUNE MIKU that made it!!
ОтветитьDog I would think you were so cool if only you didn't have those suicide jokes in your comedy sketches. As someone who has had suicidal family members as well as struggling with those feelings myself in the past, it's not so wacky and crazy when you're actually dealing with it in reality, and while there are things that suck in reality that can be okay to joke about, like murder, suicidal feelings are such a constant struggle for those suffering that it's just kind of not cool to treat it so flippantly
ОтветитьThis just feels like he's watering it down.
The focus should be on how much ppl get hurt financially and emotionally and calling out the clear intent of bad actors.
As someone who has had to sit through too many shitty game ads. This surf shark ad was refreshing
ОтветитьThat chinese ripoff studio tidbit was actually way more interesting than anything else and there's just great reportive journalism buried in between Tom Ska's mea culpa about the few times he ripped of Britanick.
Ответитьactually giggled out loud at "everybody do the flop"
ОтветитьAfter viewing the last "Last Month" video where you explained how you broke your axe making this video... it got me curious even though I wasn't that interrested in plagiarism. You got me hook line and sinker. This was really comprehensive and I loved every minutes of it.
ОтветитьHonestly, the whole story about tracking down the Chinese ad agency was hilarious, congrats to Victor for his dental practice
ОтветитьNo one creates in a vacuum. There's a book called steal like an artist that's all about taking inspiration from places and incorporating it into your work and how it's basically impossible not to.
Ответить"Have you ever mad a fool of yourself in front of your biggest heroes?" Well, gee, I don't know. Maybe that one time I accidentally screamed shut the fuck up at one of my favorite internet comedians because excitement made me scream and I got hit by an autism moment so I didn't realize it. Maybe that counts.
I will die with the shame.
This was a brutal way to find out Andre Braugher has passed away
ОтветитьI have a lovely example of parallel thinking. I was thinking of adapting DnD 5e rules to work with an online game where I was part of a guild, so we could play DnD within the games world. When I mentioned the idea it turns out a former member had wanted to do the same thing, and we'd both given up on the idea because it'd be too much work lmao. Now I almost want to do it out of self spite.
ОтветитьJokes aside, I think your Somerton Scale is actually a very useful way to think about this whole issue and assess works of creativity. Appreciate your honesty in exploring this.
ОтветитьI was a programmer for a 1-month visual novel jam a few years ago, and the writer was suspiciously fast in producing their output. Only when I hoisted it up on Itch did we get comments about how it was a total rip from an existing visual novel from a private forum.
ОтветитьThe return of Blorpo!
ОтветитьThis video is just confirming many many assumptions I’d made about Tom’s own creative influences
ОтветитьTOM ID DONE SO MUCH MENTAL WORK TO NOT GET JONOTHAN COULTONS BABY GOT BACK STUCK IN MY HEAD ANYMORE
ОтветитьOh god even tho it was intentially so. That sponsor segment was complete unadulterated cringe and it made my skin crawl. Well done in imitating those awful mobile ads lol.
ОтветитьMay I advise any viewer of this video to ingest 75cl of Port before viewing this video, because it will be the most hilarious experience of your life and you will wish your perception of things had never reached that level after you sober up
Ответитьi was making a sci fi comic about some astronauts exploring new worlds, and i got really caught up in the ethics of how to approach worlds containing life. the entire comic concept turned into an ethical debate as to how interactions with these planets should take place, should we observe from afar or get involved if we could help, etc etc. a few months later i decided i should watch some key sci fi media to get a better idea of the landscape and to help with inspiration which then led me to watching star trek and finding out the prime directive was what my entire premise was based around :'D
ОтветитьTel aviv stealing something wonder if they ever stole a country oh wait
ОтветитьThe somerton spectrum
ОтветитьI had to write an essay on deserts, procrastinated until the last day and just copied the one Wikipedia article that had a star behind it by running it through google translate 👍👍👍
ОтветитьImportant to note that you building integrity as a content creator is what makes an occurrence of parallel thinking actually be seen as parallel thinking and not plagiarism.
ОтветитьSubscribed immediately for Fhwghgads
ОтветитьDid you know that this video has won the most Guinness World Records ever?
ОтветитьWas NOT expecting to see fhqwhgads in this video. Or pretty much any video. Literally clapped.
Ответитьcan i post this on my you tube? but i will use ai to make it look like ur naked
ОтветитьWhen me and my friends were growing up, we thought ASDFMovie was the funniest thing ever so we'd reference it all the time. For some reason I really liked the "Hey Johnny!" falling down the stairs joke and so I used that one all the time.
ОтветитьTom I will never forgive you for the Lara-Su Chronicles jumpscare. I had looked away from the screen for a second and looked back to... THAT.
ОтветитьI love your surfshark ads xp
ОтветитьThe fucking country song bit is genius
ОтветитьI really didn’t expect a cinematic masterpiece like Goncharov mentinoned here! It’s such an underrated masterpiece, and one of Scorsese’s best imo.
