I actually just did that unintentionally before my spine surgery last month. I knew it would BE ok... I just couldn't knock the nerves and figured I'd be so exhausted that sedation might go easily in the end ...

Dude I cut my finger in half but not cross cut it was plunge cut and I was so painful from the week I was in the ER to the day I got surgery to remove it because of the extensive damage keeping me awake at night that by time I got in the pre-op room the asked if I want to be awake for it and I said just to knock me out I'm exhausted from lack of sleep from my pain. Yes, the nerves were still working in the finger, hence the pain, hence why I could not sleep at night and I was asleep before they even put anesthesia in lol.

i wouldn't want the chance of waking up during surgery due to less anesthesia, so im hibernating 3 days prior.

Do not recommend 😅 I stayed up all night before my surgery, and it was like the anesthesia didn't count as proper sleep or something, cause after the surgery I had to ask the nurses if I could stay longer just to sleep, as I was dead tired! They did not like me hogging one of their beds just for that 🙈

Nah, give me the full amount! I’m don’t want to wake up on that table because you used less anesthesia just because I didn’t get much sleep. Now I know if they ask me how much sleep I got last night to say the full 8 hours. 😂 won’t be saving on anesthesia meds with me, especially when I’m not getting a discount! 😂

You get NO SLEEP when you're in-patient, which should be a crime cuz you're there to heal. I was exhausted after bring in the hospital for weeks before my surgery. I was looking forward to finally getting rest.

That’s why. They made me get there two hours before at 7 am . I hated them for that

I've tried it both ways, and I just feel better if I sleep as well as I can the night before surgery.

I went under while talking to a nurse. When I woke up, apparently, according to the nurse who brought me to the recovery room, I tried to continue the conversation when I woke up.😅

I don’t think using less Anesthesia than estimated would be less work except for the half inch of hand movement 😂, it really only saves time to not require a second ampule to be used imo
