Easy answer just keep the firearm stashed in the bowels of your house for emergencies, I was a felon and I borrowed my dads gun in an emergency ( someone pulled a gun on my girlfriend at the time needed to get her home safe ( which I did ) ) Sherrifs pulled me over 4 blocks from my house. Bailed out later that morning, called my Beverly Hills Lawyer he got me 3 weeks in county + 4 years felony probation, my advice is even if you are a felon, if it's for home defense keep a gun stashed, and have 10-20k in cash ready for a lawyer, not a big deal. If they really try to screw you then sue your city/state/county for taking away your 2nd amendmant rights, if enough of us felons fight back we will get our rights back, and to be honest they can't take your rights away when you have a gun so be advised no one whos an american citzen can have their rights to bear arms taken away period...

"Shall Not Be Infringed" why is that such a hard phrase to understand? So much of the 2A community are hypocrites who don't believe in 2A rights they just believe in ownership. When your sentence is completed and debts are paid Rights Should Be Restored! Maybe if our local government said "we will not enforce unconstitutional law" but nope they're just order followers. EVERYONE has the right to defend themselves and keep and bear arms. It's companies like you and NRA that turned their backs on the people.

i caught a felony 15 years ago and ended up getting shot 4 times. This happened while working at a speedway. I was unable to defend myself against a gun because the fear of owning one. I was on life support for 2 weeks. I have always been a strong young man but i was defenseless. I caught my felony when I was 17 and it carried over to my adult record. The reason it hasn't been expunged was because I caught 2 felonies at the same time. I sold 10 fake pills and they hit me with a school specification in a school zone.

Sucks that I committed a crime at 17. Now I’m 39 and a single father that would never break the law now. But I can’t protect me or her if someone broke in with guns. I’m in a constant state of paranoia. After so many years you should have rights back. 😡

I was convicted in 1991 by the US courts in Philadelphia for lying on a 4473 and felon in possession stemming from a receiving stolen property conviction in Bucks County Pennsylvania in 1985. The usual procedure is to defer to state however my conviction did not prohibit me from owning a gun on the state level (my county probation officer told me in 1987 I could own a gun as I wasn't convicted of a crime of violence) so the US government picked up the charges and prosecuted me under 18 USC 922(g)1. If SCOTUS strikes down the felon in possession statute at least for nonviolent convictions, I will make sure I get documentation from a legal source about my eligibility before purchasing a firearm. A NICS denial can lead to felony charges and the US government does not want to hear any excuses of ignorance.

While the real bad guys take up arms and kill civilians and cops everyday … people like me , who made a bad decision in life are not fit to bear arms … yes well before I screwed up , I was a military service member .. I respect a weapons capability, I am trained to use it and proficient with it . But Joey down the street can grab an ar from Walmart and pretend he’s playing gta … then the government tells me .. we’ll use a knife .. use a baseball bat …. Go through my conviction and see how compliant I was to the officers that arrested me . And how respectful I was , I even thanked them for locking me up because I was homeless…

In Michigan a person with a felon can use a paintball gun but can't own one here Michigan you can't even own a bulletproof vest if you're a felon and that has nothing to do with firearms it's something to protect you

So since you were convicted of crime, then remedied the offense by a judge who handed down the sentence. But what I'm hearing is it's better to go on the run, or deny involvement to avoid being accountable for offense. Because taking responsibility and serving a sentence equates to a lifetime of limitations and continued punishment , oh and so sorry but if you are in immediate danger from an attacker, well hope your female 5'4 , and 120 lb self can out run a bullet or overpower a 250 lb man., Because your life is meaningless now and we think its well deserved to be helpless to protect your own life.😂.
God Bless America! Guess I will save my own ass by vacationing on a Mexican beach while WW3 includes a threat stateside here.

Let me explain something for everybody because I'm having a hard time understanding how people can keep voting for the real criminals in this world and not question anything that they do. It's obvious that the people who vote for these idiots are very limited in their way of thinking. So nobody thinks that a convicted felon should be aloud to own a gun because they are considered to be violent criminals. Now maybe some genius out there somewhere can explain to the world the difference between a convicted felon and someone who legally owns a gun. The only difference is that convicted felons have already committed an act of violence and as for people who legally own guns should be marked for premeditated violent offenders. Either way you look at it people who legally own guns know that if they have to use it there will be a violent outcome. So how is it fair when the guns are already on the playing field . From now on I will not agree to Amy rule or law created by people who think we the people have to obey but those who created the law don't have to obey the law and consider themselves to have QUALIFIED IMMUNITY. BECAUSE WE THE PEOPLE NEVER SAID ANY OFFICIALS HAVE QUALIFIED IMMUNITY AND WE THE PEOPLE MAKE UP THE STATES.

I may be different but also see some comments here that make no sense by felons. Yeah makes no sense at all. Suddenly 20 years later he is "good" (nobody is good) and suddenly wants a gun (where was want years ago?). And suddenly he only did this or that that does not add up to his felony even. Only commits crime occasionly. Loves puppies and small children (maybe too much but even drives a free candy van so can't be all that bad). Let out of jail in a red state last week after a hell of a "weekend holiday!" Lives near you and school grounds. Frequents youth hangouts. And never do they have long rap sheets. Hell most on Cops TV show that say they never been arrested have 30+ charges (cough cough). Some people just don't need guns esp if they can't even tell truth on why they screwed up. I get some stupid things being okay, but many who seek guns aren't who they pretend to be!

Sometimes I wonder, could a previously convicted (non-violent) felon that served their time sentence in jail/prison and no longer has probation have the right to self defense using a compound bow & arrows or even a crossbow?? Depends on local listings and laws I guess (Tom Grieve's advice).

There seems to be a huge consensus that we need to have more felons with guns. We've got one guy on here that's blame in the whole world for his felony and he's a law-abiding citizen, but just part-time. When he's not committing a felony he's a great guy and he deserves to have a gun so he can blame somebody else for his crime next time.
