I don't understand why both sides a guilty as Beau says. The Empire, specifically the Assembly is the one that started this war in the first place by stealing the Beacon in their presuit to understand it with no regards to the people. Essek has a part in that, but the Dynasty is a nation that keeps to itself as far as we've seen.
The Empire and the Assembly started the war to take and study the Beacons, and when they found their own, they decided to end it and slip away and place the blame of the "inevitability of war". The Dynasty got infiltrated, got their GOD stolen and tampered with.
Both sides are not Guilty. One side is an agressor and the other is defending themseves.

Matt did Travis wrong. If it were piercing, slashing, or most other forms of damage, then fine, hp loss & gravity... but Bludgeoning damage would tend to knockback (roll a d20, on a 1 falls over railing, otherwise stays up there) and with Force Damage it would never be fall anywhere but prone atop the crow's nest.

There's a beautiful whiplash between how Ashley sings in the ad bit and how she sings in the opening.

Matt making every attempt to kill Fjord here is so frustrating. Creature gets into the heart of the ship unnoticed, no chance for Fjord to wake up and notice. Forces him to fight without armor. Takes it upon himself to decide that Fjord is sleeping alone, completely isolated from the party. Puts said party as far from Fjord as he can and swarms them so they can't help. Then decided that looking over the edge of the crows nest means putting half your body over the edge and the magical blasts that would carry momentum away from the edge makes him fall over it. Then stares Travis down says "You had a comment?" Like he was daring Travis to challenge him. Then he kills Orley for good measure.

41 minutes in and loving how Ford and Jester give Wilingham and Bailey a chance to flirt.

Edit: I typed this before they realized this, I guess they could of used their first actions to put on their armor because this fight would of not gone well with no armor

Laura had a point Matt shouldn't have advantage and be able to bite Fjord who is prone. either have advantage to strike with his sword or lose movement to bend down to bite. If Fjord was standing then it would be different.

Thankfully Matt messed up on AC ratings for the party. Otherwise the encounter was impossible and everyone would have been dead.

I've got to hand it to Matt. Esseck obviously started out as your typical "evil advisor, pulling strings behind the leadership, blah blah blah." But with the random actions of the group, he allowed the character to grow and evolve to something more.

This is crazy, I’m watching this episode for the first time, I had no idea that critical role helped rebuild after the tornadoes in nashville. My last year of high school was dramatically different because of those tornadoes and then the following onset of Covid. There was a middle school that was destroyed and those middle schoolers shared my high school building in my senior year.

That night was crazy. I was in choir in high school, and that was a Monday night and there was a large event where all the high school choirs in the area gathered to sing all together, and one of our choir members was being rude to the other choirs. I remember all of us trying to get him to stop, and we were so worried that our director would be angry with us when we went back to school on Wednesday (I don’t remember why, but we had Tuesday off), but I don’t think we went back to school.

That night, I was supposed to go to my friend’s house for a dnd session, but I took my girlfriend at the time home and we were both just in a weird mood so by the time I ended up leaving, I told the boys not to wait up for me and I just took some time for myself at home. To this day, that session that I missed is regarded as one of the best they’ve ever played. They were all together when the tornado hit, and I was at home. The next week, our choir took a trip to Atlanta, Georgia, but when we came back, the damage was still fresh and mostly still in the streets and everything, but also Covid had shut everything down right as we were returning.

Absolutely crazy, thank you CR for helping our little town 🫶

Watching Taliesin’s hands shaking while he’s trying desperately to keep his friends alive is so heart breaking. 😢
