We are cruising the Mediterranean in May 2024 on Celebrity Ascent. Should we bring Euros for use in the ports? It is a 10 day cruise, and we will do the Ephesus tour and Pompeii, should we explore Santorini and Mykonos on our own? We have been to Chinque so I think we can do that self guided...but I am unsure about Rome.

I have been on many cruises and also many places in the Caribbean but I have never been to Europe. I am so over whelmed in where to even start. Silly me just thought more people there spoke English so that was the best tip you gave along with other great tips. Thanks again for a great video!

Our ship is disembarking at 6:30am for Rome, so you know how long it took to get of the boat?

Any specific info on your Kusudasi tour? If all I want to do is Ephesus and the terrace houses would a bus and entry fee excursion be okay?

What about getting the Wifi package on the cruise ship. Is it necessary? Will we have wifi in the different ports or should we just get with our cell phone carrier and ask for a European package?

How about phone service while not on the ship?
Is it necessary to get an international access thru Verizon ($100 per person) or not?
How do you get the information you have for airline /hotels/ tours etc. while you are not on the ship?

may be booking a Mediterranean cruise this week, our first cruise ever. should we buy excursions on the ship or at the port location?

My husband and I are going to the Mediterranean in June. I also booked the hop on hop off tour bus for Barcelona. I get tired feet bc of surgeries and can’t walk fast. Will this be a problem with this excursion? Also because we are going in June, do you think this is going to be too busy a season for this type of excursion?

I LOVE that people close down their stores for a few hours a day. For us Americans it is inconceivable for capitalism to rest a little.

First time cruisers from Australia here… doing it in style in May 2023 in the Mediterranean from Rome through the Greek Islands with NCL. We’re a 40-ish aged couple travelling with our 10yo son (he’s excited about the basketball court on board… we’re excited about our drinks package 😂)… cannot wait! Any tips/hints/tricks welcomed (we are both well travelled but it’s a first for my boys to go to Europe… they’re gonna love it! Bring on the gelato/gelati & cannoli ❤)

We leave in just over 2 weeks on a 12 day Barcelona to Rome cruise. Ok, I know pass-able Spanish, which will help, a bit, with Italian. But French? Almost zero, and we have a day in Niece and one in Marseilles. I've watched SO many of your awesome videos, I wish I had come across this one earlier! I will take the time to sit and enjoy meals in every port. Florence is the one bringing me the most excitement!

Sorry but we have had too many ports ruined by using the “Hop on Hop off” tours.
They sound much better than they actually are.
Someone may have enjoyed them but we were burned more than once so they are no longer what we consider a good option. Have actually had better results looking into local transit options.

Did you go to Ephesus and if so can you recommend a tour guide?

We went one day early in Barcelona and was able to go see La Segrada Familia and the gothic quarter and walked up and down Las Ramblas and stayed 3 extra days in Venice. If you’re going to spend the money and time to go across the pond, please do your research and know what to wear and how to act. Doing research on hotels to stay and pinning it on the map as well as all the places you want to visit is part of the fun.

When flying to Mediterranean cities prio to embarking on a cruise, note any holidays. For example flying in to Rome. I would normally go a few days earlier, however I'm going on a cruise in 2024 that departs the weekend of Easter. NO!!! Waaaaaay to many people. Hotels are more expensive also. So in this case I will be seeing Rome a couple days after the cruise.

This will be the 1st time for all of us in the region. We are Americans and would love to hear about your perspective. We don’t want to be the typical pushy, loud, entitled Americans! We want to experience these cultures and at the same time be respectful of it.

I decided to do land tours instead in the Mediterranean. The culture is so rich there, a one day stop won’t be enough. I said to my wife, let’s spend a week on Santorini or two weeks touring Italy or Spain. Attempting to speak the local language goes over very well.

We are taking a TransAtlantic cruise from FL to Spain next month. We are considering a back to back cruise on the same ship that will take us to more ports around Spain and Italy, then flying home. Any tips on how 19 days on a cruise ship might feel? I'm afraid we'll have literal cabin fever by the time we get to the end!

The best thing we did was book a private tour of Rome. It was fabulous the guide was so knowledgeable and on cost around $75.00 more then a group. She got round the city at the right and where to sit to see the best view of the Sistine chapel ceiling. Also went to more place then bus tour because os smaller vehicle. The on and off buses are great, highly recommend.
