Now I never had an iPad before and am interested in getting this one. I have a MacBook Pro for strictly creating videos and I would like to use the IPad Pro for the same thing.. just on the go. When I finish editing on the iPad, I would like to transfer my stuff to my main cpu. I’m thinking it’s all good in my books, but what do you all think?

Betcha the pro apps start showing up for iPadOS.

What’s the point in making a device faster if all developers do is create apps that utilize all the processing power denigrating the usage to the same power as the previous model? LOL

They'll improve iPadOS but I doubt they'll make the iPad a laptop. Why would they want to make it a MacBook replacement when they can make you buy both? It would be awesome but highly unlikely.

Complain about iPadOS after, not before WWDC.

iPad Pro hardware is just absolutely insanely awesome. And then it hits you that iPadOS will never allow you to get the most of the hardware. Its like buying Fugaku, the 442 petaflop monster Japanese supercomputer and loading windows 95 on it.

Sadly the iPadOS is still a glorified mobile OS and already held back the previous iPad Pro. With this new iPad Pro that gap between Pro hardware and the mobile OS will become even more pronounced. Despite Apple's marketing we all know iPadOS just doesn't allow the iPad Pro to be your only "Computer", not for Professional people anyway.

I really hope now that Mac and iPad is running M1 we will get a Pro OS for iPad Pro, some kind of merge between iPadOS and MacOS to really take advantage of that amazing hardware.

To me simple things that are still missing

1. Multi User support like Android and other OS has had for ages.
2. External screen output at native external screen resolution and not just screen mirror but a proper second screen
3. Keep working on improving file manager at least offering ability to format external storage with different filesystems and better file copy status indicator especially over network.
4. Support more filesystems for external storage
5. Consolidate all settings for keyboard, mouse, pen in one menu option rather than scattered everywhere
6. On the topic of mouse and keyboard the use of it can still be improved, mouse input using office productivity apps on Safari is still flakey for both O365 and Google Docs.
7. Need a App tray like iOS just got or Android has had for many years. I really really don't need all my damn apps on my desktop like I'm a toddler
8. Ability to place widgets anywhere allowing me to have a clean clutter free desktop
9. Full on MacOS Safari and Chrome from the Mac. Online design services like Marvel Apps or even AWS consoles work well on desktop but simply does not work well on iPad. Heck some online services like Sendgrid, the console just crashes on login.
10. Perhaps a bit more freedom to sideload apps. Really frustrating that apps like Synology DSGet is not allowed on iOS. (will ever happen)
11. Hopefully all that Mac Silicone productivity apps make their way to iPad too like full MS Office rather than the current gimped mobile version.

Sadly, its clear Apple still think of the iPad as a large iPhone/Toy/Consumption device

I am hoping they will draw a line though the iPad family where the Pro line actually gets a more Pro OS and the regular iPads that are more geared towards consumption, running the mobile OS aka iPadOS

Let's wait until WWDC.
If nothing is really happening in the iPadOS implement heaps of MacOS desktop features space...than we can put Apple to task.

Yes Jaime Rivera, I think that’s Apple’s goal, to make iPad capable of running macOS software (they have hinted that by allowing M1 macs to run iOS apps 😉). Remember iPads have mouse and trackpad support (curious enough 🤔), and, of course, Apple Pencil.... so, yeah.

I think they making final cut pro an app, this is their way to let us know, wich will be fantastic because I don't want a macbook, I do everything in my iPad, I have a laptop that I haven't use in years because my iPad is powerful enough to do what I do i n the daily basis, if that is the case, I will definitely buy the new iPad,

Honestly i wont upgrade this from my last year iPad pro. Only thing that catches my attention is the 5g but we all know that 5g is can vary. I also think apple will announce some key software for the new iPad pros to justify the M1 chip. I already ordered the airtags that was the most exciting announcement in my opinion.

Why are we even offered anything that's not an M1 iPhone and a wireless touchscreen that hooks up to it with no chip at all? Why do I need an iMac if it is just a giant cell phone chip with an admittedly pretty case? All of the advantages of the M1 chip are its mobility. Compared to a PC, the M1 is really nothing special - just good. And it's crap if you want to play games. So again, why aren't all these products iPhone accessories that leverage the chip in the phone instead of reselling me the same crap I'm already carrying (yes I know the M1 is not the exact same thing as an iPhone chip but honestly - it's the same thing.). Apple is running a con here by not just letting you use your iPhone as a computer that connects with USBC to any monitor and boots with iOS when connected that way.

Why no u-1 chip in the new iPad Pro? Or MacBook Air for that matter? So we will but air tags for them. 👎🏻

I have been using my iPhone for 90% business in construction. Rarely I need a computer which I have at the office. All my software I use has a desktop and then an app version for my phone
Square QuickBooks QuickBooks time notes and Microsoft office and internet. I am thinking that the iPad would be what I want maybe with cell service. Or maybe I can use my wireless hotspot.
Any thoughts or advice?

iMac looks like iPad with a large Screen

You're super wrong about the M1 iPads and "what's the point". The point is that now it has the architecture of Macs so in the future Apple can allow 3rd party Mac apps to run at full capacity on the iPad such as Photoshop or Adobe Premiere Pro. And like you mentioned in the video Apple may be working on importing X-Code and Final Cut Pro to the iPad. Putting a laptop chip into the iPad Pro could open future multitasking and file management capabilities on the iPad as well even if it comes years down the line. They just changed the history of tablets by doing this. Also M1 has Rosetta 2 built in, if Intel apps could port to the Mac or any DMG file, it would be INSANE. And by adding an XDR Mini-LED display, they destroyed Microsoft's surface line just with one announcement. Also you don't understand, the 2021 12.9 inch iPad Pro is theoretically better than the MacBook Air because it has that Mini-LED display and supports the Apple Pencil which tons of note-takers and designers need so dearly. I understand MacOS is better, but for a touchscreen, MacOS doesn't run as nicely as iPadOS does and for some workflows, iPadOS is better because it allows for creative work in a different way. In my opinion MacOS is more for multitasking and business related tasks and iPadOS is more for designing, drawing, and taking notes.

I already upgrade my Mac, but the new colors are nice. I’m good with the iPad I have since I upgraded that too. I think when Apple sells the new Magic keyboards separately I will get one to use with my ipad since I do enjoy using a keyboard with it. .

I work with Photoshop 4 hours a day, print and frame photos. If you put a black border around a colour photo, it markedly desaturates the image. So, white frames make photos (generally) look much better. White bezel is better than a black bezel. In Photoshop, first thing I do is make the board a very light grey instead of the default black, so I can see the colours more accurately. Apple have nailed it even though I was initially disappointed with the chin. Now .. I get why Apple did it, and love the overall colourful look. ps and I’m 61 years old

Anything short of full MacOS access to me is a failure. Even if they have MacOS apps now able to run on iPadOS, it's still iPadOS: I can't customize my desktop the way I want, I can't multi-task the same way as I can on a full computer, and most importantly, I can't freely install apps outside the App Store.

I think what they're trying to do is what Microsoft tried at the beginning of Windows 10: make a Windows App Store so that the OS maker controls what is on the computer. Instead Apple is trying it from the opposite angle: make a tablet that already is a tightly closed system into a "computer" but with the desired control. And that's just not going to do it for me. If iPadOS is enough for content creators and artists so long as they have access to desktop apps, of which I am neither, then that's justification enough for Apple.

I was looking for a true laptop replacement. I have a laptop and a tablet, and this could have replaced both. I was optimistic with Samsung DeX and a Galaxy tablet, but was very disappointed with how limited the desktop experience was. Especially when they took away Linux on DeX.

Unless Apple gives a full desktop experience that is full MacOS at the flip of a switch, this will forever be an amazingly beautiful piece of tech that makes absolutely no sense to me and is way way too overpriced for just a tablet experience.

With WWDC a little over a month away, don't you expect them to announce a HUGE change with iOS? I'm hoping that they do at least change iPad iOS so that it runs more like a Mac to take advantage of the new iPad Pros. I know. We've been hoping for this forever, but I really really think they will announce some major changes to iOS, at least for the iPad Pro OS.

Most You-tubers seem to have their heads up their A regarding the new IPad Pro. It’s got many people excited for what is obviously in the pipeline for pro app support.

At this point they should just put mac os on iPad pro and that would be THE perfect device for everyone.

So basically the iPad 12 is comparable to building a house with all the top specs with the display the garden the pool. But you’re never given the people to live inside of it. I guess that would be a good comparison..

If they put mac os on the ipad Pro. They have to fix the single port issue... and mouse functionality but after that it would mean gameover for all mid tier mobile computers period. It would murder anything from the current Microsoft surface range. But it would also cannibalise a good chunk of entry to mid tier spec'd macbook user market.

I feel like that you are not getting the big picture here with the iPad Pro. Apple announcing the iPad Pro with the M1 chip is just the beginning of what is about to come. I feel like Apple has some big plans for iPadOS at WWDC. Instead of writing this off as just being another iPad, wait until after WWDC to make the final judgment. I hope that Apple goes all out with iPadOS 15.

So wait... This new iMac is only 24 inch display? in 2021 seriously? Probably also only 60hz at this price. 4.5K at 24' is just overkill. The keyboard is not full, which is more a problem in my country, so need to buy another keyboard... I'm not convinced for personal and professional use... But surely schools and universities will jump on it. The new iPad pro is a much more convincing product.
