Brilliant….👍
ОтветитьNaive question, but if you're going through that much effort to create a launch pad, how much more effort would it be to create an exact length DIY track for your particular workbench, like the DIY MFT?
ОтветитьGreat idea Peter….
ОтветитьQuestion are the Strawbyte packers/shims available in the U.S.? Or do I have to get them from Strawbyte?
ОтветитьGreat idea and an interesting collaboration.
I have several damaged Festool guide rails that someone gave me that were slightly damaged. I am going to cut them to be a starting pad for my Festool rail. I may use some of your ideas to give it a little extra support . Thanks to you both!
alternatively, make a duplicate of your front rail hinge slider with the launchpad stuck on the front, then just swap one for t'uther as and when needed
ОтветитьPeter can you tell me what guide rail is compatible with erbauer plugs saw rails as they are long enough for cutting 1981 doors or ply sheets thx mike
ОтветитьIt's amazing. But couldn't the longer track be used whenever it's needed
ОтветитьLoving all the information about tracksaws, but not sure what the best entry point is these days, with some previously reviewed models no longer available.
Erbauer 185mm from Screwfix, or Triton 165 (this is my preference), any advice guys ?
Instead of a dowel with a bit of tape , a corresponding drill bit like 10mm say could be left in the hole and dropped in or left there.
ОтветитьThanks Peter, another simple(ish) solution to a real world problem many will face - always great tips and advice !
ОтветитьElegant solution Peter!
Ответитьexcellent to see some Macalister track saw videos. this is a great idea to help us non festool users. thanks.
Ответитьhey Peter, I just binge-watched a bunch of old videos trying to find a specific one but I can't find it... you had posted about (i think) a makita/festool equivalent track saw (not the evolution ones) and if memory serves I think they were 1400mm long. can you remember which video that was or the name of the track?
ОтветитьCould the launchpad replace the DIY MFT bench extension? Another use I see for two flat versions - if I could find some material the same thickness as my Powertec rail - would be rail extensions for trimming new anti-splinter strips.
Ответитьnicely done...great solution....
ОтветитьAnother great, simple and straightforward video-thank you again, you keep many of us going.👍🏻
ОтветитьI really appreciate your work.
ОтветитьHi Peter, thanks for recommending the Strawbite waste side jigs some time ago, I use them regularly.
ОтветитьPeter that is brill... I have just realised that Makita 18v Circular saws will fit on tracks...just ordered a 1m rail, but this may come in handy... Nice one (Sarah)
ОтветитьNice bit of "out of the box" thinking Peter, now to fabricobble one!😂👌👌👌👌👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😎😎😎😎😎
ОтветитьFantastic!
ОтветитьThanks for another great video love watching always you have given me great ideas on doing things
ОтветитьI love seeing your ingenuity! Thanks for the content!
Ответитьeducational as always ❤...
ОтветитьI love those counter sink bits, have you got a link to one please?
ОтветитьNow THAT is a brilliant idea. Well explained and presented as always. Thank you Peter 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
ОтветитьNice one Peter ! Is there any modification that can be done on the dowel locator , rather than the tape ? Something to make it 100% foolproof and guaranteed square each time. Are there any shelf pins on the market that are that diameter ?
ОтветитьStanton nicked the dog locks idea from ebay
ОтветитьWe could all do with an extra length Peter - usual problem is lack of workshop space and access generally in a domestic setting.
Tracksaws have been a revalation for home gamers - giving dedicated machinery precision to hand held saws , routers and general woodworking.
As usual, a timely, well considered video.
Thanks a lot, Peter! I've been binging your videos. I commented on a different video of yours, and just ordered the 150/5 based on it. In just 1 month I went from no Festool to my s/o sounding the alarm haha. I am currently looking to add a dust extractor to the collection (I only have a shop vac), but am struggling to figure out which size to get. I was thinking between the 26/36/36 autoclean, with either the festool cyclone or the oneida dust deputy. I don't have a main dust collector as I don't really have a designated shop area, so this would be my only dust collection for the time being. Thanks!
ОтветитьGrand Idea Peter, but on the North America side of the pond, MDF thinner than 12mm is not easy to source, most common is 12mm and most places just standard 18mm MDF, where I live. But several years ago, I did find another solution to extend the support of the track saw rail (I use Festool) on both sides of the cut, and expand the 24-inch width of my 1080 MFT, to increase cross cut capacity from 22-inches to 30-inches using the 1080mm rail, and have saw support for both sides of the cut. The solution was the DashBoard PAW system Track Stars and Rob’s Spiral Dog, which connects to the track slot under the rail and slides into the slots/holes in the Track Star, adding about 4-inches to each side of the MFT top. The Track Stars replace the hinge system, and are a less expensive alternative to Rob’s excellent Rail Hinge/Guide system, whilst expanding the cut width beyond what the hinge setup offers.
Cheers
Love the channel, I wish festool would send you a ts60… it would be good exposure to have it shown in videos
ОтветитьBrilliant! I've been in that situation so many times, this is a great idea, thank you Peter, another great video, hope you're well. Cheers
ОтветитьThanks Peter always great ideas for us it’s appreciated. But the link for the double sided tape you’re using in this and others blos is not the same as in the link ? It’s 3m tape not the same looking as yours ? Have you got a link to the same tape your using
Thanks
Dare I say it but I see a diy d…board type bench coming soon. 👍👍 Great addition to the diy Mft bench Peter.

ОтветитьI just can't get enough of this channel. Would you consider doing a series on basic furniture building with a track saw? I know you mostly work in plywood, which is awesome, but would you consider doing a hardwood project?
ОтветитьBrilliant idea indeed, Peter! Fantastic work! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Nice get upgrade build/mod/hack? Take care & stay safe Peter.
ОтветитьThat's really great content. I wish I could give two thumbs up!
ОтветитьIt’s a plunge saw. ?????
Ответитьgreat idea :) Thanks for sharing
ОтветитьPeter, this is a great, helpful idea. Thanks for sharing. Sincerely, Supremely Satisfied Subscriber.
Ответитьive got those dave dog locks and i can never snug them up tight enough on the track, am i doing something extremely dumb?
ОтветитьPeter, well timed video. As the Seattle weather allow,. I'm re-siding my house. Yesterday I was using my small cordless DeWalt circular saw. I actually said to myself. I wish I'd bought that small Bosch circular saw Peter Millard has. I'm using an old garden potting bench as my work surface and experiencing the issues that come with that.
Best Regards,
Excellent. You are an engineer and professor. Professor Peter Millard. Well done.
ОтветитьThat is a good idea that will solve the problem I have in my very small shed.
