Being a fighting games lover and Nintendo fan its fucking shameful that fans can produce things like fbneo and flycast where in a 60fps game 1 frame links(meaning connecting one move to another with one frame leniency) are still possilbe and viable ONLINE from NY to Brazil in arcade emulators and Nintendo having advantages of source code, infinite money glitch etc can't put out products that work.

The Wii VC emulators overall were pretty legit.

I agree with you that professional companies can't compete with fans working on this stuff for decades... so then why not hire the fans who are actually working on this stuff? Just a crazy thought. Sega hired a fan to make a bunch of Sonic ports, and eventually Sonic Mania, and it was brilliant. The only mistake they made was not letting him make more.

Now that we're a year out from the expansion pass's launch, I'm curious to see how many people chose to keep their subscription or cancel/drop back to the base membership. After the emulator updates and DLCs they've thrown in, I could see some choosing to keep paying if I'm honest. In my case I only cared about a small handful of the N64 games and basically zero of the Genesis ones. The only DLC I had fun with and didn't already own was Mario Kart, and I'm better off just buying it outright instead of renewing a subscription that couldn't prove its worth after a year.

Been a Nintendo fan my entire life. Never bought a Switch to this day because of ALLLLLLLL THE FUCKING CORNERS THEY CUT EVERYWHERE! Like it's amazing how consistently I've been reading about them doing this with the Switch particularly. Cheap hardware, cheap games, cheap software, all with premium pricing.

Was so disappointed when they announced paid online for nintendo, felt like a massive shit on all the good will Iwata fostered, and for what, more money that they already have infinite amounts of just by making a new dogshit Pokemon game with reused assets and 2 versions of the same game, if I was a top brass at Nintendo I would feel such an immense amount of shame and disgust at what their doing, especially to a platform directed to kids.

I don't follow game news anymore so I was giddy when the N64 service popped up one day. I was bummed to find it was locked behind a subscription fee. Then I read reviews of how poorly games like Oot looked and played and I completely lost interest. Oot was one of my favorite games during the N64 Era but as much as I want to take the trip down nostalgia lane, I'm not paying money for trash that plays and looks worse than a game from over 2 decades ago.
