Have you bought something recently that kinda sucks? Tell me about it in the comments below. I love to complain about things.

Juice. Just that.
ОтветитьThis is why I just but things from Costco so I can return it.
ОтветитьIndia too has right to repair
ОтветитьStop Apple from releasing the same product every year
ОтветитьThat applies to culture too and Vox is partially response for .
ОтветитьIt been used "Hello" not buy for just show!
ОтветитьMy mother's washing machine is 27 years old and has never broken, not once. I tell her not to change it ever, my washing machine is 2 years old and it's already giving me trouble.
ОтветитьSooo this is why we wrongly blame China.
ОтветитьCapitalism, next question
ОтветитьCapitalism....
ОтветитьAll made in China.
ОтветитьCapitalism comes at you fast.
ОтветитьI disagree that everything is worse. A lot of tools are better and less expensive than they were 40 years ago. And there are a lot more types of tools to choose from. Cars are better, in general. Cars in the 50s and 60s were lucky to get 100,000 miles. Cars today can go much longer. I’ve had two vehicles last over 200,000 miles. Plus they are safer and more comfortable today.
ОтветитьThings were made to last years ago.
I have a music box which belonged to my late Nan.
The box is from the fifties and it still plays like new.
Nice and clear and without a hitch.
The older something is the more reliable it is
Converse are worse now
ОтветитьWhat makes me angrier in this, is that of course, I know that if I'm paying cheap that will last short, the worst is when you pay dearly a product hoping that it has a superior quality and it lasts the same amount of time as a product cheap.
ОтветитьDo remember that things used to cost more, like a lot more. Compare to what you earn. So would you pay 50% of your monthly salary for a jacket, which is what you used to in the past - and then only get a new one every 5-10 years. ??
ОтветитьHilarious how there are links to Vox merchandise directly below the video
ОтветитьSimple it's made by the lowest bidder
Ответитьapparently in 2012 neon colors were really cool so now, 11 years later i still have a lot of cool neon t shirts xD
ОтветитьNo fast fashion for me. I love going to the thrift store. Quality items cheap. Also don’t care about trends.
ОтветитьOf course Vox places the blame of rising costs at the feet of labor and not companies trying to increase growth.
ОтветитьSoon, you’ll upload a LiDAR scan of your body and you will be able to buy clothes online that fit you exactly as shown online. Many of those clothes will be built to order, too, thanks to robotic clothing machines. 👍
ОтветитьThis feels like a lot of "blame consumers" which doesn't feel accurate to my life.
I don't care about my underwear being the latest fashion. I'd much rather have a pair that lasts for years - and I'd use it for years.
But I don't have that option. None of us do.
We're not buying more because we want to, we're buying more because we have to - because our bras aren't lasting as long.
The bill that was passed in NY had changes written in by the manufacturers, so how is that a win?
ОтветитьWe have an economy that rewards and effectively encourages such business behaviour. The only way to properly change this is to change how the economy works and what business behaviours get rewarded and what business behaviours get punished, and also prevent companies and wealthy individuals having more of a say over the laws that govern us than the common person.
Ответитьsounds bit racist but lot of stuff is made in china, which uses low quality raw materials...some stuff falls apart in matter of days
ОтветитьI love that you as a big media are talking about right to repair!! Awesome.
ОтветитьIt’s called inbuilt obsolescence, and it’s been a thing since the lightbulb was invented😂
ОтветитьPeople need to just quit buying from these companies. Everybody that says "the government needs to do something", I would remind you that the government currently takes money from us and uses it to bail out these same exact companies, why on earth would expect that same government to actually do anything about this? These companies wouldn't even exist in the first place if it werent for the government keeping them afloat with OUR MONEY!!! Companies like Apple and Microsoft? If it weren't for extremely lucrative government contracts that give them OUR TAX PAYER MONEY, they likely wouldn't even exist today. Certainly not in their current global powerhouse form. Maybe, just MAYBE, if instead of handing over half our possessions and all of our decision making abilities over to some other entity, we kept them for ourselves, stuff like this, just wouldn't be an issue. Horrifying prospect right? To make decisions for yourself and keep the fruits of your labor. Oh the horrors! Where is government to rip me off and tell me I'm a conspiracy theorist terrorist for wanting not to be ripped off!
Ответитьthey just want you to buy more duh
ОтветитьEu deixei de usar sutiã por conta disso. Os outros produtos me deixam indignada tbm
ОтветитьThe Divided States Of Scamerica
ОтветитьChinafication
ОтветитьPerhaps next time you could interview individuals who've spent their whole careers in and around manufacturing and ask them what's going on.
ОтветитьI think more people have stopped being “good” at there jobs because there depressed they still live pay check to paycheck so they stop trying as hard
ОтветитьBuy manual hand tools that last generations instead of electric ones (and learn traditional craft and joints instead of buying screws, glue and other modern construction stuff), manual scales (kitchen and body aso), natural fibers instead of synthetic textiles/blends (just because of the micro plastic and softeners problem), don't buy modern electronics until the old ones are broken even if social pressure and ads and marketing make you feel you need to buy the new thing.
Ответитьso learn sewing and seamstry; electronics fabrication [sam zeloof is good guy to look at]; and learn mechanical engineering to make better products for yourself or learn how they do it and repair... got it.
Hope you have a great day & Safe Travels!
I bought a high end gaming laptop for over a grand, it lasted eighteen months and it couldn't be repaired as the part needed had multiple variations and finding a match was impossible. Also it was held together with double sided tape. I decided never again. Laptops are great for light use, but they don't stand up to heavy usage.
ОтветитьThe only person you can change is yourself. Stop buying. Keep the same device for as long as possible. Wear the same clothes until they are torn. I feel that the first part of the video is forcing us to think that everything we own is low-grade. This is called generalization. Don't believe that. Save money. Use the stuff your own as long as possible. Save money and save resources...
ОтветитьECON 101: The real issue is public trading of companies--the requirement for stock to continue to increase in value. The only way to do that over time is to cut manufacturing costs & so, quality. The goal of most new small businesses is to eventually sell them into public trading. So, restaurants become chains become part of restaurant conglomerates. Small cellular companies grow value in number of customers at cheaper rates, always with intent to sell to att or Verizon, which then hike the rates. It's capitalism, baby. Sigh.
ОтветитьThat is what happen when you push those minimum wage laws
ОтветитьJust stop buying things you do NOT need
ОтветитьI actually am having a very hard time finding the clothes I want to wear, because what I used to wear 10 years ago in university are way better than what I see in shops now, in terms of both quality and design. I just went window shopping the other day, and found one item that I genuinely felt I WANT to wear it. But it costs three times more than my budget. This is so bad. I realized, it's either I raise my budget or I don't buy any clothes anymore.
I kinda regret I threw away my clothes from the old days during covid declutter. Because I cant find the same quality clothes anymore today. Oh, I wish I was well aware.
The solution is simple.
DON'T BUY! You don't need too much stuff.
Live simple.
Buying plastic or useless stuff or having tons of clothes shouldn't be cool for you.
At the end of the day, you are living a miserable life to pay all the debt you have to get those garbage.
Get a new vision of life, not new stuff.
Businesses are in the business of making money, all else is a side-effect. They're interested in getting as much out of you as they can for as little expenditure. Quality above what is necessary to make a sale is a disservice to shareholders. Thus it is a race to the bottom.
ОтветитьExactly why I'll never own a John deer tractor.
ОтветитьIt’s called fiat money
