Team Seas never mentioning the role corporations play in plastic pollution is insane. Coke can easily sell their single serving drinks in glass or aluminum, it won't bankrupt the company to stop manufacturing single use plastic garbage.

It's important to note that other trees are replaced on a regular basis - not enough but still about a third of the ones cut down are replaced - when calculating the impact mr. Beast contributed. The statistic goes up when considering that he is replacing ones that weren't replaced already. Additionally, the u s. Only loses about 36 million trees a year. For an American to replace 20 million of them is a lot. We can't control what other countries do.

I've always distrusted "rich people" asking the average Joe to donate to any kind of charity they put up. People like MrBeast have literally billions of dollars and are asking people on minimum wage to donate. Can't you see the hypocrisy in their actions?

It is impossible for us to recover our forests to their past strength without stopping deforestation and letting it regrow on its own, we need to focus not on planting as many trees as possible but reducing the actual pollution and deforestation

you can't blame the charities though, doing something is better than doing nothing. And maybe it doesn't make a difference on a global level but it makes a difference to a city or a neighborhood or street and that counts. No one can save the world

The primary force behind climate change is wealth. It's the rich who consume so many luxury goods, buy private jets, own the corporations that pollute, value profit above ethics, lobby for laws that serve them, and have exponentially higher footprints. Aaaaaaaaaaaaand Mr Beast has a net worth of half a billion. He can't be the solution to a problem he is a part of. Eco-friendly options and charity are often just smokescreens for seeking profit. Should we be surprised it all turned out to be greenwashing?

@alitout8651

I find this video to be quite poorly done and I can't really understand the point of it. Let me first preface by saying I do not think MrBeast is a good person especially after all that's been released about him and don't even get me started on Ava. However, the issue with this video is that it claims Team Trees movement has not actually made a difference which is wrong. 20 million trees planted is 20 million trees regardless of how many are being cut down in other parts of the states or world and that doesn't even account for all the other trees they continue planting. Sure 40 million are cut down everyday, but what is MrBeast actually supposed to do about that?

He can't go to some other country and ask them to cut down less trees, nor can he even go to companies here or government and ask them to use cheaper alternatives because as you said yourself, these guys are greedy and there's no way in heck they'll go to more expensive alternatives no matter how much money MrBeast gives them. Your video proposes no solutions to this issue and instead just claims that he somehow is diverting the attention away from the actual issue of companies which unless you have proof for, I just don't see that at all. No where in any of his videos does he seem to be trying to help companies divert the blame away from them. People need to be the ones that go out and vote for these policies to force companies to go more green, that has nothing to do with MrBeast and claiming such is just wrong. By your logic, I argue that:

The Police are useless. Sure they prevent crime in a lot of cases, but they don't actually go after the source of why crime happens in the first place and as such don't actually stop the issue at all and crime will continue happening no matter how much the police stop it.

Car safety features are useless. Sure they prevent a good amount of people from dying but that doesn't go after the source of the issue which is drunk drivers that aren't caught or bad roads and people will die regardless of these safety features.

I could go on and on. The point is that what MrBeast does actually does help out and while he can't make a difference for all the trees being cut down, he can certainly try and plant some more even if it doesn't end up amounting to the amount being cut down because it still is better then not. The only argument I may be able to see here is that he should direct his audience a bit more towards voting for these policies to go more green as well but you don't even mention this. That's at least my take on it.

This video doesn't touch on the most important part of these tree-planting carbon offsets. Planting a morbillion trees does even less than the pittance you're calculating, because planting trees is not a very effective method. The vast majority of these forests die again, wasting massive amounts of effort. Most of these trees, if they even planted every single one they said they would, are already dead.

I mean that’s probably .8% more than you’ve done to contribute so to say it’s “not enough” is a little ridiculous. As rich as people are, no one person can change the entire world. Even if you had all of America doing this, they’re still just a drop in the ocean of people on this planet. To achieve the change you are talking about, it would require literal world war. Thats what most people (including you) don’t get. Not a mr beast defender but spreading awareness is still helping, regardless of how small. It’s all we can do.

I disagree that it is solely for PR. You can say that it makes people think they can make a difference when they cant, which i agree with for the most part, a lot of those impressionable children will be more aware of how serious our envrionmental issues are because of these campaigns, thus voting with these views in the future. Could they have made more of an effort to focus on the hellscape that is a corporate run world? Absolutely, but is it fair to say it was solely a PR move that has a net negative effect? In my opinion no.
