so the fact i got my 12900ks chip for 314.00 before black Friday saving 150.00 bucks compared to the 13900ks was a very smart choice because really for gaming its averaging only 10fps faster for 150.00 more in price. good to know i made the right decision.

Can you add 13900K with 7600 or 7800 mhz ddr5 memory?? I think it gains another 5% over the 12900

Great review! It really doesn't make much sense to go from one to the other, but I know that whoever goes for either if going for the best of the best.

Coming from i9990k to 13900. Very happy with my upgrade. I did notice my i9-990k did feel more sappy. Odd.

I was going to upgrade my 12900k to a 13900k or AMD 7950x system.
But the power draw and temps TURNT ME OFF

i upgraded from an i7-9700k to i9-12900k with rog strix z790-e gaming wifi .... man ...so happy .. was gonna go with 13th gen but 1 too expensive / i would have to upgrade to a bigger case / bigger cooler ..runs Alot hotter than 12th gen that and i got the 12900k for $360.00

I grabbed my 12900K for $430 brand new from microcenter with an Asus Tuf z690 motherboard for only an extra $50 on top of that when bought in a bundle. It was any Asus prime or tuf z690 motherboard is 50 dollars with purchase of any 12th gen K skew cpu. Anyways, a month later, I saw they dropped the price of the 12900k to 350 dollars for like two days, went up to microcenter, and they refunded me 80 dollars with buyers protection! So all in all I got my 12900k and z690 for 400 usd brand new! My rig is a gaming trio 4090/12900K and I built my build for a little under 3 grand at about 2800. I got a deepcool LS720 360mm aio on sale up there for $115 when it first came out, and I bought a thermalright lga 1700 contact frame on amazon for 10 bucks which has made a HUGE difference for me as recent. Before the contact frame, when I would try to OC to 5.1GHZ steady, my processor would immediately start thermal throttling. It dropped my temps by almost 20c, and my 12900k is pushing a steady 5.4ghz. I'm running DDR5 corsair vengeance 6200mhz cl36, but I don't use xmp, I have them OC tuned to 6800mhz stable, with tighter timings. I undervolt my 4090 and only lose about 2% performance overall with the GPU, which to me, is worth it. Though my cards core clock can boost to 3125 and I can reach a stable 1900 on the memory clock. I just wanted to get the best deal I could with a high end cpu to pair with the 4090, and prior to that the only other good deal was the 7900x at microcenter because it came with a free kit of DDR5. But the AM5 motherboards are expensive, and AMD just flat out sucks. They should rebrand themselves AMDip. Raptor lake is better no doubt, but not by a margin where one should upgrade. More like rebrand lake lol

This video was great, it went over all the details I had wanted to know! Upgrading because giving my PC away to my GF and I am going from a i9-9900K to i9 12900k, which is great, as I can clearly see in this video, the i9-13900K isnt worth the extra 300€ for sure! <3 thanks dude! great video as I said!

Thanks for the vid but you can't use a 3090 when testing CPU perf when the 4090 exist. You are easily GPU bottlenecked even at1080p and should therefore test with the best possible GPU to give the most accurate results.

Is Intel still doing Tick Tock releases?
I'm curious what the 14th Gen IPC will do.. that should be a Tick right? The 13th was the Tock? It sounds silly but I think you get me..
I have a 10850K at 5.1, So skipping a few generations is fine but keen for the IPC Bump soon because I plan on RTX Gaming with a new gpu this year sometime.

Excellent review as always. My biggest problem with the 13th gen is that it consumes so much more power than than the 12th gen and 12th gen already consumes a lot of power. IMO anything above the 13th gen i5, particularly the i5 13400f(but the 13600k is also manageable) consumes too much power for me to consider at any price or performance.
