How to fix backer blocks to I-Joists

A short animation showing how to fix a backer block to an I-Joist prior to fixing a hanger (such as a Cullen UH Universal Hanger) for increased load capacity.

Installation instructions:

Fixings: Use min 3.1mm diameter nails of a suitable length to clench over the backer block.

1) Position backer block on i-joist tight to bottom flange

2) Nail backer block in place and clench nails over on the rear side of the I-Joist

Refer to I-Joist manufacturer for backer block specification and exact nailing requirements.
