I was busking couple days ago and two people spoke to me about Don. So came here to learn about him, I live a couple of miles from where he lived. He's still talked about pretty often it seems, gone but not forgotten.
ОтветитьBrighton and Hove bus 940 carries his name along the route of where he lived and played.
ОтветитьEXCELLENT 🕊FABOULOUS🕊 AWESOME 🕊⚘⚘⚘⚘⚘⚘
ОтветитьMet DP in Bodmin in 1973 while he was travelling in a gypsy caravan spent a great night in local pub with girlfriend of the time it was magic.
ОтветитьI believe the drum writing read as follows KING OF THE STREET SINGERS
ОтветитьRemember when he hit the headlines with Rosie .he was the man of the moment at that time
ОтветитьI met Don in the "Double Diamond" pub in Brussels in 1980/81 when I was working there. He played there every night and organised a "Buskers' Night". Great character.
ОтветитьLoved Rosie and Blue Eyes, songs of my 1960's childhood . Rest In Peace Don
ОтветитьAt the end of that great documentary is that Gerry bol in the top hat another OMB performer an old friend of dons
ОтветитьI was a bus driver in Brighton and Don used to get on the Peacehaven bus quite often, a truly nice man, he was found dead in his garden at his Peacehaven bungalow, a very sadly missed man! He bought a smile to many lips!
ОтветитьCharged and fined for putting a smile on people's faces. All in a days hard earned work for a jobbing musician.
ОтветитьHe was My grandpa
ОтветитьTotally underrated performer IMO!
ОтветитьYo era un Peque cuando don francisco fue a entrevistar a Don Patridge, el tema ese Rosie fue el que pego en aquel tiempo.
ОтветитьBack in the early 80's I had occasion to be working in Sweden for a few weeks, and bumped into Don in Gothenburg at the Gamle Port Bar, enjoyed a beer with him most evenings after work, really nice guy... sorry to hear he is gone RIP Don
Ответитьdon partridge was seriously good.....no music industry puppet unlike many..
ОтветитьI met him once, he was a Gentleman. RIP Don
ОтветитьGod save the King!
ОтветитьR.I.P Don, i never met you but it would have been a pleasure to meet the "King of the Buskers" , i would have been very honoured to have filmed you for my Buskers site but i have your picture as my background so that people who view my site will always remember Don Partridge, the King of the Buskers!! R.I.P Don ..Never Forgotten!!.
ОтветитьI was round my mate Ray Young's house when Don came in with his guitar and a bass drum. Don said "I got a great idea, I'm gonna be a one man band!"The rest is history. bye bye Don, you were one of the great ones.Sadly missed.
Ответитьsorry to see old dons gone ,i didn't know till i saw this ,i played in a pub with him once ,did't know his tunes but played by ear,it was a nise tune up,he was a modest person easy to get on with, this is good that you put this on here for people to see him play and chat.rip
ОтветитьI love his pureness!!!
ОтветитьPity I don't understand Swedish, but it's a nice video of this famous busker!!
ОтветитьThis is great, i knew there was footage of Don out there somewere, ive been harrasing the BBC for any old footage they have of Don from the 60s so im hoping they come up with something. I was at his funeral also, hope ye all like mi bit of video i uploaded.
ОтветитьGo for it!
Ответить@thechucklefoot No. I'm just thinking where it's out of focus of overlaying with a photo or two that I also took and would like to include whilst keeping the sound track uninterrupted. I should say we're talking about amateur camera work that I'm trying to improve with amateur editing :o)
Ответить@videodabble Yeah,it's ok to upload the footage,I spoke to Woody,Alan, and Vic,they're all ok about it,if you edit it won't it cut out bits of the music?
ОтветитьGreat to find this Swedish footage on here at last! Don showed me his copy of this when I was round his place a couple of years back, and I said at the time it would be good for people in the UK to be able to see this,as there's been no footage available of Don,Alan Young, and the other buskers from that era. Thanks for putting it on here. R.I.P. Don,we gave you a good send off at The Bay Tree in Seaford yesterday, after a very moving funeral . Musicians everywhere, what a wake!!
ОтветитьThank you for uploading this footage. RIP Don
