I hope you guys make a video on 2 eventually. Xenoblade is one of my favorite franchises and learning about the development of the franchise is really fun.

I think the touching of the cheek/hand thing is crazy. Not that deep like

2 is better than 1 but the original is more concise and plays things safe. Can’t wait to play 3, just got it for Christmas today.

When Metal Face's name was changed, all the other Faced Mechon were also changed to have names based on materials. There is no "Brown Face" or "Green Face" in English, they are referred to as Bronze Face and Jade Face.

There's a few cases of wrong information like that in the video, of the kind suggesting that the info wasn't properly checked by someone who knows the game well. Those aren't Telethia in the intro for example, they are Laias, a different brand of ancient flying creature which are also under Zanza's control. They fight the Mechon at Prison Island during the big event halfway through the game.

The game was some absolutely confusing shyte. So yea, I can see it.

these devs are amazing I'm glad that despite all the obstacles they overcame to give us a great series of games

I'm 99% sure that xc3 had also major problems during dev cycle since the open world is such a HUGE downgrade in comparisson to xc2 and the last chapters + ending are simply terrible.

Knight Character might be reused as Zeon in Xenoblade 3

My nostalgia and still love for my beloved shining force 2 and this game bump heads for my top game of all time. This game which takes a place on my shelf at 3 spots ultimately wins top spot.

My main memory of xenoblade was it came out when companies were crusading against used games for "cheapening their work" or something, and I cited Xenoblade as why they were full of it and just needed to make better games that people wouldn't be ready to sell to gamestop for pennies since it sold for more used than it did new.

Those first prototypes of the titans in 2006 look incredible. It's amazing how much the saga has evolved until now, with the third game been released just a few weeks ago.

Considering how the Xeno games sometimes treat women visually, it taking Yurie Hattori to point out something could be construed as creepy rather than it having crossed their minds before is bonkers but unsurprising >_>

Wait. Didn't this game start out as an MMORPG project that got shafted and repurposed into a single player game with Nintendo's aid? Were those just rumors?

Great video. The Monado Archive book was not Japan exclusive by the way. There was an official French translation, now quite rare, distributed when the game came in Europe.

Just finished Xenogears for the first time. Had beaten XC1 several times. I love how he is able to focus on such large scale concepts.

I guess he is TECHNICALLY a party member during a few moments, but yeah it would have been way more jarring if like Dunban or Sharla decided to work together with Zanza and acted as a late game boss. It would be really cool from a gameplay standpoint, like have that betrayer party member play using the same stats and skills and arts applied to them from the last time they were in your party, so if you min maxxed you'd have to take that into account, BUT it could also go the other way- if a player sees the betrayal coming, or has played the game before and knows the story, they could nerf the shit out of that party member just before they leave your party, so the upcoming battle would be easy, like entering Shadow Link's arena in Ocarina of Time with low health and then healing up during the fight itself

It's so wild that they actually reworked a tiny part of XC1 because they thought it was too creepy and then proceeded to make Xenoblade 2 lmao.

i remember when i first tried xenoblade.

i was getting roms for dolphin and saw the xenoblade rom. smash 3ds and wii u had been out for a long while and i remembered old game reviewers i used to watch talking about the game. so i figured, why not, lets try this rpg i know little about.

i proceeded to play the game for 6 hours strait, go to bed, then play it another 12 hours. It was by far one of the greatest games i had ever played and i loved everything it offered me. im now a huge fan of the series, owning every single game. I love xenoblade chronicles

The name Metal Face never stood out to me in the first place, as Green Face was called Jade Face in the English localization, while Xord is known as Bronze Face in his English SSB trophy description. As such, in English it became a metal/mineral naming theme with Metal Face, Bronze Face, Silver Face, Jade Face, and Gold Face.

Other than saying Agniratha and Nopon wrong, good video.

Interestingly, even though Metal Face's name was changed for obvious reasons, the landmark of his remains is called Black Wreckage instead of Metal Wreckage
