I want to buy the Paulie and Patsy theory but why would NY shoot at Patsy when he was with Silvio? That being said that scene with Paulie and Patsy at the Bing was so weird but Chase obviously included it in there for a reason.

No matter what, all the different theories all the conspiracy theories, this that Paulie, Patsy, Carmine , Butch. NY there all what if’s there jus that big what if’s. It’s all speculation and I think this is exactly what David Chase wanted was this right here what we as fans and lovers of the show are doin , we are debating and throwing around different theories and different opinions as to what we think happened how many years later. That right there is what makes the ending in itself so great and frustrating at the same time . That’s another reason why The Sopranos is the greatest series show ever written, it’s been how many years since it’s ending and we’re still talking about it smh that’s what makes it legendary!!! So my theory is who really knows for sure what happened and how it really ended, who can say for 💯% they know for sure ? You can’t lol it’s not possible and I think that’s what David Chase wanted.

We'll never know could of been Vitos brother, furio coming for carmela. Dominick Tedesco, probably didn't even die. Maybe Tony turned into John wick and killed both of the hitmen. It is left to your imagination maybe Tony woke up in his farm house in Kansas and tells Carmela I just had the weirdest dream I was a mob boss in Jersey with a Italian accent.

Yeah, there is no doubt that he was killed and the way it was done was brilliant in terms of tying into previous conversations about never seeing it coming and then everything just going black. The fact this is still debated in terms of the whether he died or not but also the "controversy" of it just "ending" that way shows the genius of it. Perfect ending to a near perfect series.

Lots of red herrings in that last scene, and the guy in the Member's Only jacket has got to be the most casual hit man in the entire series.

After rewatching the end, it was Carmine, Jr. It was very weird when in the last sit down between Tony and Phil that Carmine, Jr. brought up Billy being whacked, saying “whatever happened there.” Tony and Phil had things worked out, but Carmine, Jr. kept the bad blood brewing knowing the flames would be ignited. He allowed them to go to war with clean hands hoping that Phil would be taken out. If he wasn’t taken out, no harm no foul, Carmine wouldn’t be implicated and would stay in retirement. However, with Phil gone, Carmine, Jr. could fill the family’s leadership vacuum without much resistance. Phil, Doc, Phil’s protégée, Johnny all would be gone. Butchy wasn’t a boss, he was muscle. When Butchy agreed to give up Phil, Carmine, Jr. had a clear path to make an agreement with Butchy to allow Butchy to put the plan in place to takeout Tony, and Butchy as underboss would have been the person to handle Jersey for the family.

Gene's wife hated Tony and pro blamed him for Gene's suicide. She had a couple mill, so she could have hired someone or he could have been Gene's brother in law and wearing Gene's jacket.

Wasn't the "Members Only" guy related to Gene? I happen to think that Gene's wife was so distraught, with having inherited a large chunk of money and paying Tony to cut him loose (which he didn't), and then Gene hanging himself... I would not doubt that she had something to do with it.

Then again... the episode ends, and we all ASSUME that, at least Tony, was taken out. Has it been established that Tony was whacked? I don't recall having heard anything about it. But, if the last scene, in the last episode was in fact the final whack... then I'd have to go with the "Members Only" theme. Gene's jacket, assassin's jacket, the episode called "Members Only"... Strongest theory I've seen.

David Chase confirmed that Tony was killed, he just didn’t want to show it. The creator of this video is over thinking this, Butch the new boss just finished what Phil started and he got a button man from another family to carry out the hit. My only question is did the Members Only hit man kill the rest of the family too especially A.J. so they couldn’t avenge Tony.

Here's my take: throughout the entire scene, we see everything through the eyes of Tony and either Carmela's or Anthony Jr.'s (as these last two are sitting rather close together, I couldn't say who it is at any one particular time) When the scene fades to black, the last thing we see is Tony's face. So whoever was killed, they were looking at Tony when they died. See where I'm going?

A boreing one: Chase was going to have NY wack Tony, but HBO said, "Leave the door open for us. We treated you well."

Chase said OK and took the request to its extreme, a cut to black. (HBO was free to do anything they liked).

So the show just stopped.

IMHO What viewers should do is evaluate where Tony is, his situation, and circumstances and write their own ending.

Tony didn't need to end. He could live on for only minutes longer if you like, or for years. The only difference is that we are now excluded.

My interpretation of the parade of threats that pass by in the dinner is itself the ending.

Tony had just gotten by this last war 'by the skin of his balls' (Paulie commenting on his tribulations during the Crazy Joe wars back in the 70s), and that's were we leave Tony, surroundered by his family in a sea of sharks.

I.e. Six seasons. Much happend, nothing changed, then we were uninvited to watch.

What happened to Tony is up to you. If you're mad at Tony, and you want to smite him with justice, then the blackout was one of his anxiety attacks, and he awoke to continue his life worse than death. If you feel sorry for Tony, and you want to bless him with mercy, then the blackout was him getting his brains blown out in front of his family.

Slava and Little Carmine make the most sense for me.

What is this rubbish? David Chase long ago explained that this was Tony in a POV scene reaching the end of his life. It is a masterful episode. This rubbish review video does it a disservice.

Butchie grew to respect Tony, even when he originally hated him, because Phil went nutty.
Patsy has too much to gain by marrying into Tony's family.
Phil is dead, even if one of the hitmen didn't get the memo to peel back, knowing Phil's dead and not offering protection would prevent anyone from pulling the trigger.
Lil Carmine has been there to work with Tony's family too much, invested in movies, and worked out grievances amicably from the start. He's good at pitting ppl against each other, but I don't see him actually ordering a hit on Tony.
Furio wants Carmella, so the logistics of murdering Tony, convincing Her and the kids to hide and move to Italy, and getting away unscathed just don't add up
The pine barrens episode was early. Russian mob doesn't take years to clap back.

Pontecorvos were robbed of a normal life by Tony, it only makes sense that they kill him with his family so they can't have one either.

Pontecorvos Wife hiring a hit man holds the most meaning in conjunction with the final scene. Could even be a brother or family member, since he didn't look relaxed and was wearing the MO jacket. But the fact that Tony gets to carry on and enjoy the little moments with his family, while the Pontecorvos attempt at a normal life was destroyed by Tony, has some obvious poetic justice if it's a pontecorvo arranged hit.

I believe Chase deliberately made the ending to be what it was so that the viewer, using our sense of justice and morality, decides what Tony's fate ought to be.
