Don't buy iPhone camera lens protectors - Here is Why

Yes you need a protector. My case broke and lens.

They are not made of sapphire. They are made of a synthetic material that mimics sapphire. And it is pretty prone to cracking. Very very hard which eliminates scratches but if you drop it you risk cracking sapphire glass. Trust me. I am a watchmaker. That type of crystal crack all the time.

Not all sapphire is the same. The sapphire used on the iPhone camera lenses is not great quality like what you'd find on a watch crystal. I've seen several cracked iPhone cameras which were inside cases when they were dropped. There is also a ring around each of those 3 lenses in the pro models which is made of glass. I got a small chip on one of them in my 13 Pro Max and Apple refused to do anything for cosmetic damage. Thankfully my camera lenses are fine, but I'm not taking a chance anymore. The iPhone cameras are quite fragile and expensive to fix, especially the pro models so some form of camera protection is absolutely necessary.

What moron puts plastic covers on an imagining lens ? If ur going to use them do t cheap out make sure the ones u get are h9 hardnd glass.

My Iphones have very seldom fallen on the ground, asphalt, or concrete. But they have fallen to the floor in my car where there is some and and grit. Occasionally they do fall on the floors in my home both tile and carpet. By far my biggest concern is the grit on my floor mats in my car.

The idea of a camera protector is amazing but when you put it on it makes the camera blury-ish and lowers the quality of it a little bit, but if you are really clumsy or got children that use your phone its okay to add another layer of protection.

dear you speak by hypothesis and that's it. Yesterday my iphone 14 pro slipped off a table and ended up on the asphalt from a height of about 40cm. Do you know what happened on the phone? The first thing that hit the ground was the camera lens and the glass was irreparably chipped. Probably because Apple uses Chinese Sapphire... Which evidently is certainly not as hard as a diamond but certainly softer than asphalt. So if I had lens protection nothing would have happened! So please don't say stupid things.
Sorry I forgot, to repair the damage Apple told me that I have to spend 500 dollars.

I use the full square ones a set of 3 I’m on my 2nd one rn because I replaced a case and accidentally pulled off my lens protector and got debris stuck on the adhesive

They have SOME sapphire in the lens! So little that it still has the same hardness as glass

I have these lens protector and yeah personal experience it has small reflection to the lights when i tried to take a night mode photos.

You make a great point. I was going to go with the square lens protector instead of the single lens protectors anyway. In case a phone case doesn't have the lens protector (like for me there's a cute phone case on Velvet Caviar I want but the camera lens is out) you can just buy the square lens individually.

So I have protective lens on my camera, I notice trying to take moon shots or night time shots when lamps or other light sources it’s turn it into a star access whole photo or blurs the moon, Would it work better without them on or any other fix to sort problem out ?????
