Chicks - yeah it is fine to use the perjorative word "chicks" in this classic song because the lyrics are mocking the idiots who think that rock'n'roll ain't work. But I can't stand the fact that so many dumb or muscle-brained American "men" still routinely use the word "chicks" with no awareness whatsoever of how dumb and demeaning it sounds. A certain Joe Rogan and his guests for instance still sometimes refer to women as "chicks".

I don't know what it took to get all these guys in the same place at the same time. But, massive cool, man!

You better watch out, when sheriff Mark Knopfler puts aside his regular 6-shooter, and, pulls out his Les Paul. Chances are, someone's headed for Boot Hill.
It was close to 40 years ago, that I had just heard this song.
While driving to do some project work, I told my younger co-worker, Tom, that I loved it. But, I hadn't yet had the chance to hear it cranked-up to its proper level. It was so new, I didn’t even own a copy.
Tom, that co-worker, had recently bought a new house. He was excited about it. And, had done a little extra work on it, to improve the energy efficiency.
Shortly after our talk, he asked me if I wanted to swing by, to see the place.
It was a great house, in an attractive subdivision. It was roomy inside, with a tall ceiling in the center.
He gave me a quick tour. It included a small bar, next to his component stereo system. He turned it on, to explain a few features.
He pushed a button, and adjusted a knob or two.
To my surprise, the familiar ring of the intro to this song began. No one was there to complain about volume, so he made the windows rattle a little. And, the spacious living area gave it a concert effect.
Yeah, he never said a word, but he had it all planned out. It was a generous, kind thing to do.
Careers, family, and other things led us in different directions. But, when I hear this song, I often think of that experience.
BTW, I play the guitar a bit. I learned enough of this one to make it acceptable to my ears. What an incredible song!
