This movie is iffy for me. It's got qualities to it that I feel like just miss the point of the original (or at least waters it down).

But the music is 10/10 !

Personally, with all the live action remakes, Beauty and the Beast felt like the right one. Ngl I Like this version more than the original, mostly because of the soundtrack. It felt perfect if I’m to be honest :)

I don’t like this song it makes me mad

"We don't like what we don't understand / in fact it scares us / and this monster is mysterious at least // bring your guns, bring your knives / save your children and your wives / we'll save our village and our lives / we'll kill the Beast"

These lines have such a strong impact when you realize they were originally written by a gay man. Especially the point about saving the children- saying that LGBT+ people are going to hurt/indoctrinate your children is a common fear tactic used by homo/transphobes to try and scare people onto their side. Something we still need to be mindful of today.

I'm happy to have "set to sacrifice are children to his monstrous appetite" as my solo in my play

This is one of the only positive I can give for this movie.

The best part about the unique lines by Gaston and LaFou is that it actually replaces the single stupidest lines of the song from the animated version. "Through the mist through the wood, well within a haunted castle something's lurking that you don't see everyday. It's a beast quite as tall as a mountain; we won't rest til he's good and deceased." where LaFou was eagerly and angrily singing the line along with the rest of them.

This is the only part of the movie that is an improvement over the original. This song was already my favorite in the original, but this version is better in my opinion! I love it!

I prefer this version better because you can tell how insanely Psychotic, and Jealous Gaston is. I like as many have said Lefou is starting to realize that Gaston is a monster.
