As long as China cannot steal or buy these companies it will stay ahead . China has bought companies in Europe that produce powerful infinitesimal chips. China will find a way ? but you didnt mention that, without silicon valley, the place where chips are invented, these machines from Zeiss and ASML and TSMC wouldnt have existed. american companies like Cadence and synopsys that make EDA software to help design advance chips, and than fabless chip companies like Nvidia, Apple, AMD design the chips that we use today like AI and FSD.

10 years is a short time, I doubt China can replace all ASML suppliers, as they are the leaders in their fields, let alone build the machine itself and fabs like tsmc, the whole Chips industriy is a global effort, it's ridiculous to even think that one country can do it all on their own.

America and Europe shooting themselves in the foot once again with their shortsightedness. If you force China to develop it's own chip manufacturing equipment, guess what? They will. Then what will happen is they'll be direct competitors to American and European chip and chip making machine manufacturers. They'll undercut the US and EU countries on price and corner most of the world market.

Lets be clear, China isn't just commiting a couple of billion towards achieving this. They're commiting $150 billion over the next 5 years alone and they'll do the same over the following 5 years.

Americans have no idea just how much China can throw at challenges like this. Take Huawei for example, their research and development department has 96,000 PhD level employees. No European or American company comes close to the highly educated workforce China can throw at problems.
