Research grants only have so much money, and it typically comes earmarked with a specific purpose.
If you think that the parents should have been able to get their kid sequenced for free, don't get mad at the researchers for not spending their limited resources on it, get mad at the government for not allocating resources to help them.

It makes sense. Not ideal for the mother, but she got her answer. The researches only cared about finding the answer and they did, so testing the girl was no longer necessary. They said she’d just have to pay a couple hundred dollars to get it done on her own, so sounds like a non-issue.

So these doctors are taking there DNA, pinky promising they arent gonna use it for research, and not tell the family if they find out they have a biological problem. These are mad scientists, that cant be ethical

informed consent needs to be taught in schools, it can apply to so many things from data to research. they would then understand that researchers are not doctors.
