How to make your Rode VideoMicro sound PRO.

I am sooo glad that you made this video. I watch videos about audio and video gear almost religiously. I have seen in passing, about five different videos somewhat complaining about shortcomings of this microphone that don't actually exist. Everything that they are doing is wrong. It is so bad that one 'reviewer' was saying it had low output levels, but did not know how to adjust his input level in his camera. I was just complaining about one of these videos to my wife last night. I know the mic sounds great for it's price because I own one. I really feel like you should at least have a basic knowledge about audio before you post videos as a 'reviewer'. Anyhow, at least you came up on my feed to calm my frustration. Make more videos.

Because of operating Strictly Solo, i have Deity D4 Duo shotgun mike mounted atop Canon Vixia HF-G50. Have not encountered any significant audio issues. Thanx for these tips/pointers, tho....

I came here looking how to setup my rhode microphone on my desktop. Browsed you channel but only camera setups are coming up. I had it nicely configured before but the computer reset it and need to make adjustments again 😓

What I got with this microphone is the ceaseless hissing sound. No matter what I cannot get rid of it. I can only remove it with Premiere Pro's denoise

I have a question...

I use the Sony ZV1 as a webcam for Zoom meetings and I have the Rode VideoMicro on top of it.

After watching this video I got myself a microphone arm and the extension cable that is linked in your description.

For some reason, when I use this cable instead of the original RODE one, I hear a noise in the background that is pretty loud.

But, when I switch back to the original cable, it is gone again...

Now obviously, the original cable is to short for the microphone arm.

So my question is, did I do something wrong or do I have to buy a different cable?

If I have to buy a different cable, which one do I buy?

Thank you very much for sharing. I am this mic with the dongle for my IPhone for vidrecoding a gig on the street. Is there any way to optimize the sounds? I hear more sounds from the street than my voice. Your advice would be super helpful !

i just picked this up today...and it is incredible...i recently broke my wireless microphone and needed something in the meantime..so this one was perfect...$55 and works right out of the box...the advice here is much appreciated coz i wasn't thinking of turning the mike around if i was shooting front and speaking from behind...mighty thanks for that point mentioned...god bless...

Mark how much of a sound difference to use Rode VIdeoMicro Me-L that plugs in lightning port of iPhone 13 pro? Some saying you will have a much better quality using one you got with the adaptor. Does it make that much of a difference? Thanks Mark tech man!

Thank you, very helpful. It looks like you've got another shoe mount to be able to attach the Rode to a tripod. I have the mic with the original shoe mount. It requires a 3/8" screw so doesn't fit my Joby which has a 1/4 screw.

Hello Mark! I only have a lavalier rode mic. and when i connect it to my Android phone don't really see any difference. Do you think that this mic. gives the same quality if connected to an Android or iPhone as when connected to the camera? Grateful in advance for your time anda answer 😊

This mic wiggles around like mad if walking and vlogging and sometimes the dead cat gets in shot. Have you had this problem? Maybe looking into tying down the shock mount so it doesn't move

iOS apps to equalize?

HELP lol.. I have a videome mic L that I’m plugging into my iPhone via an 3.5mm audio extension cable, and an Apple lightning to female ext dongle.

The extension cable is brand new but seems to add noise, how do I eliminate this buzz????

How to manually adjust the audio settings in the ZV E10 for handling that gain issue for white noise? The settings are a little different than the Canon.

I've been a silent viewer for a while but I had to say something. This video is genuinely amazing. Why? It's just a microphone tips and tricks right? Well, yes but the way you put yourself forward and explain concepts in such an elegant way makes me appreciate spending time on your channel. Another pro tip is to record when total silent if possible. This way noise can be digitally removed afterwards to give you a 99% clean recording.

hi mark with regards to putting the mic as close to the source does the gain knob matters? how much should i set it on? i noticed i can even pick up noice from blocks away, im using a rode video mic ntg.

Great video especially on the audio level adjustment. I purchased recently a Rode video micro 2. I love the sound quality. However when I use it on my mirrorless camera, it picks up the AF noise of my lens. Now I know people recommended STM lens, or remove the mic on the camera, but is there a solution using my lens and mounting it on the camera?

I'm trying to use the rode videomicro with the zoom Hn1 but it's just not working. I tried different cables, but nothing worked, even though the mic works just fine on my iphone. Am I missing something?

Thank you so much for this. I recently bought this microphone and was disappointed to find out there was so much background noise in the recording that I couldn't believe that a Rode mix would be defective. With the manual setting of Sound on the camera, I was able to sort that issue out. Yayy!! 😀
