I absolutely love your videos and I absolutely love hearing and learning about the uss cod. I always been fascinated with military history especially us navy history.
ОтветитьThis is/was a great series, brining many of the original crew members back to relive their memories. I highly recommend this to any and all that would like to have more knowledge of the Silent Service during W.W.II. Thanks for this Paul!
ОтветитьWish I lived closer to come see the Cod, and have a movie night aboard! Semper Fidelis to all the lost crew of the Cod
Ответитьalways enjoy your videos Paul. We have re-watched the silent service videos for years. You do a fantastic imitation of Dykers!
ОтветитьInteresting to see they got the old style M1 carbine. A lot of moving picture production of this period just carelessly used the VERY late war one with a bayonet lug and more adjustable sight.

ОтветитьPaul, was this the only tim the Cod was featured in this series?
ОтветитьThis cold war Submarine qualified sailor has nothing but respect for you Paul, the Cod and the entire fleet of WW2 submariners. Bad Ass!!
ОтветитьPaul is so cool 😎
ОтветитьDykers sank 8 Japanese ships during the war.
Ответить♥♥
ОтветитьAll I can honestly say is WOW! The Captain and the crew of the Cod were great men. God, the steel that they had!
ОтветитьSo how'd the lookout dog get up and down the ladders?
ОтветитьThat was fun to watch, thanks Paul. I will say this though, those actors had the worst muzzle and trigger discipline I've ever seen.
ОтветитьI have read before and using a submarine for such a mission...It seems PT boats would be better suited for those missions.
ОтветитьI watched this show, several times, before knowing the Cod was still alive as a Museum ship.
You didn't mention the huge number of future stars that appeared on this program.
This show had humor and seriousness making it a good entertaining.
Great one Paul.
ОтветитьNow that was most eminently satisfying. Thank you for sharing that.
ОтветитьI recently, purposely, skipped this episode because I knew that Paul would eventually do a video on it! 🤠
Roll the film! 🎥
👍
ОтветитьApproximately 12-13 years is a bit long for anything in a war patrol report to pose a danger/risk if known, but "military secrets" I guess..... Keep everything secret as long as possible whether it make sense or not.
ОтветитьThat's so cool. Thanks Paul.
ОтветитьThat was fantastic!
ОтветитьThe silent service series also had actors that would become very famous -- Leonard Nimoy, DeForest Kelly, Russel Johnson...etc
ОтветитьGood stuff Paul. Look forward to more buddy.
ОтветитьThanks, Paul. I enjoyed
ОтветитьThe Japanese shipper was "Hey Boy" from Have Gun will Travel TV show. Kam Tong(1906-1969)
ОтветитьGreat episode about Cod. Will need to watch Silent Service.
ОтветитьThat’s one heck of a periscope to be able to see all the enemy planes above clouds 😂😂. You have to appreciate the older tv programs making due with what they had to work with.
ОтветитьVery neat. Thank you!
ОтветитьI remember watching these shows and at the time they didn't seem much inferior to network-produced shows as far as production values.
ОтветитьWhat happened to the After show debrief they promised ?
What was correct and what was fiction. …
Great video Thanks Cod
ОтветитьAre you going to do a part 2? You promised to do a segment on what they got right and what they got wrong.
ОтветитьYou sound JUST LIKE THE ADMIRAL in the "Silent Service"! Subscribed.
ОтветитьIn the 3 weeks since I watched this post, I found and watched every episodes of the 2 seasons of The Silent Service. I think that, for that time period and the budget they had, the films give us land lubbers, a fairly good look at life on a WW2 sub.
ОтветитьGood Job!
Thank You 🙂
