How does the game calculate when to play the ambient sfx (the chimes, dog barking, radio, etc.)?

Can't you just always close the doors twice?
So if Bonnie/Chica is near the door, the first time you close they'll go away and the second time they won't do nothing because they will be in the living room/kitchen;
if Bonnie/Chica is instead in the far hall, the first time you close they'll get near the door and the second time go away.
