Hi Darren , good advice given, the first I always check is the MOT history, no matter how good it looks. From this quick free VOSA check online the MOT history can be quite an eye opener and how well the vehicle has been looked after especially if it has reoccurring advisories not being dealt with and the worst being any mention of corrosion with the structural parts of the chassis - this only get worse as time goes on. It maybe that light surface rust but at least you know where is best to look if you are interested still. Previous welded chassis corrosion is a must to inspect especially if covered with underseal. If the foundation is poor no matter how well it looks your motorhome could easily become a money pit in repairs. Just my thoughts and free for all to check. keep up the good work.

for damp, use your nose before any damp meters, the smell is the one you cannot mistake or cover up with anything else

Please advice to check at company house our friends did 4 hpi checks all came back clear. A year later legal papers came to say the chassis has a mortgage on it 4 years later they are still fighting . For the ownership.

I would suggest timing chain / cam belt, when was it changed? Also tyre age and tread condition. Last service too.

My God daughter bought a caravan, the layout was perfect but she has a bad back and the bed made her back much worse. She kept trying but it just didn’t get any better so she ( and hubby ) had to sell it and buy another one. They made sure the bed was ok in the second one.

Hello Darran and Mavi. I’m a bit confused again this week. I didn’t get the cheese and baguette in the fridge metaphors, what about the wings ? LOL Something else, do you come up wet in the UK ? I have checked few minutes ago, we’re not that wet in Belgium (despite the rain) LOOOL Well, I stop with my stupid jokes…but honestly those advises are precious ! Maybe one day we’ll buy one motorhome and I’ll definitely got the points of attention in my mind !
I would add myself : check the quality of the matras (if it needs to be changed) as I have a bad back. Do we fit in the showers and the bed (Alain and myself are not skinny). is there a room for improvement (add solar panels and 2023 connectivity needs)…Hugs xxx
