2019 Ram 1500 New & Unique Feature: More Tailgate Than You'll Ever Need?

I feel like the only guy that has never had a problem accessing my bed with a regular old tailgate. Never wanted or needed steps, handrails or barn doors.

Honda Ridgline's Tailgate swings out and actually has good space but this seems just extra not really need in my opinion. $1,000 more for these doors ? nah lol

Although I don't think this is all necessary because a normal tailgate works just fine but I'd say ram went about it a lot better than GM did. I would rather have the barn doors over having a Bluetooth speaker in a truck tailgate

Why don't they fit a potty hole into the tail gate? Would come in handy when you are out in the open.

Remember when truck were made for work now sucks to put them to work a lot $$$ to fix damage done by work

Ford sitting back watching how these guys copied there tailgate fiction...they gone have all this plus a remote to open & close,up & down...& a tailgate that will slide outwards then able to lower the entire tailgate to the ground & bk up with a movable bed linerthat will pull it how close u need it 😂😂 my opinion

just imagine with the ram cargo management system u just open the tailgate and your stuff is rt there.

Guess I'm old fashion with tailgates. The original design never fails. Grab handle and drop. I can see these new designs failing somehow. And cost a butt load of $$.

Working in tool and die and working to make the die's for the tailgate. Amazes me seeing it be done and be on the truck

They need the doors to fold out and then the bed to slide out and up to extend the bed when you need it

I would like to see a tailgate that rotates under the bed, with a step configured into the design. In addition, I'd like to see truck manufacturers offer a low-profile bed slide, with built-in retractable cargo straps - yes, I know I can buy a clunky aftermarket one. How about some other built-ins: air compressor; generator with electric power station - 50 AMP 220VAC/110VAC; that's just for starters. Finally, wouldn't it be nice if every other truck didn't turn into a rust bucket after 5 years (northern market, of course). WTF is with that? Pickup trucks have been around for nearly 100 years, but aside from increased power, size and comfort, they offer about the same utility. Do the designers actually drive/use them, or are they just punching a clock? By the way, I currently have a Ram 1500 4x4 - nice truck.

My 1986 Dodge Ram has a steel bed that slams down and my receiver ball hitch is my step. Soft trucks for softer dudes.

K now that the tail gate has been changed this is fluffy Halloween candy, they need to build a tilt front end similar to a Kenworth, still allow a normal style hood for adding washer fluid but allow mechanics to have as much room as possible to work on these wizzy complicated engines that are used today

Remember when a tailgate was used for holding in cargo and pushing over the occasional tree?

Winter time loading a sled into box will put that to the test. Regular tailgates that are solid have enough issues

Waited months for tailgate to be available . just release to order late last week and then found out that other non related options aren't available when you get tailgate !!!! Unbelevible ! Total BS !!!Looking at Ford !!!!

I just got a new RAM with the Dual Function tailgate, and it's pretty awesome. It really does make access to the bed easier. One thing to know though is that if you get this tailgate without the RAM boxes they install large brackets in the bed at the top corners by the bulkhead. Those brackets make it impossible to install a bed cover or anything that has to clamp to the rails in the front. Hopefully, they'll come up with a solution to this issue soon.

Can you add this multifunction tailgate with the RAM Box option? I see it on the video, but in the online configurator, you have to pick between the 2...

I've never had a problem loading a truck curbside or with a forklift or washing a bed with a normal tailgate...

I'm seriously considering making the ram tradesman my next vehicle just for that tailgate. I can easily justify the extra cost . I would loose that much in income if I hurt my back by climbing in the bed & couldn't work & I'm not getting any younger.....my only other option would be a set of decked drawers.....roughly similar cost

First this sweet swing door tailgate and today I find out the 2020 Ram Rebel is getting the updated Ecodiesel. I'm buying a 1/2 ton pickup and Ram just went to the top of my check list !!

I just hope that tailgate had a locking feature. For a $1000 option thieves will be looking to steal em.
