It's really surreal how the party have their sad animations over Aerith dying for like 5 seconds and then magically get over her death right after. The game is kind of a writing shitshow in general, even though I can't imagine any FF7 fan would admit it due to obscene levels of nostalgia. Hopefully the remake polishes things up a lot because it really needs it.

For god sake can you please either turn on no encounters or cut them out next time. It’s impossible to scrub for the right spot when you’re getting into random encounters even god dame 5 seconds.

I got stuck on the diamond weapon boss as a kid and holy crap I didn't realize at the time how close I was to the end. Part of me now wants to dig up the old ps2 and memory card. I assumed as a kid that since I still had another disc to go that it would be forever and just gave up like an idiot. 🤦‍♂️

I absolutely love FF7, definitely my favorite RPG of all time followed by Alundra! I bust out the original console every couples of years and relive my childhood by kicking the crap out of Ruby and Emerald Weapon lol. Good stuff! You got a new sub out of me!

Something about watching certain games is actually better than watching the damn movie. This game and the Ace attorney series are 2 great examples

I know this game is supposed to be a classic and I was alive when it came out and did not play it simply because I hate turn based combat. But damn it does look fucking shit gameplay wise.
i am sure the story is great but when you have stuff like aLttP combat, then OoT and MGS released around the same time it makes this game look terrible beyond my ability to fathom how anyone can say it is a good game.
Not even earthbouncd TBC was this tedious.

When I first played this game at age 9 in 1997, I genuinely thought it was an error in the game that his name was Cloud. I didn't understand why his name would be that.

I love Video games with stories that last this long.

i got the 7th heaven modded og ff7. it brings me back to when i beat it in 1997. they used ai to create 4k prerendered backgrounds and there are ff8ish redone character models. its so good.

It is actually panful to watch this playthrough, with all of is dreadful mismanageent of items, improper use of equipment, and nonsensical combinations of materia, which could have been put together in far superior useful combinations.
I mean, putting an "All" in a non paired weapon or armour slot, while there are paired weapon or materia slots available, as just one simple example.
I suppose that it would be beyond reason to expect Lacry to pull off another Full Game Playthrough with a more Completionist effort.
Not necessarily Mastering up all materias into their reapective Master Materia, with each character having a Blue, Red, and Yellow Master Materia, as I do, but, more of better use of items and equipment, as in not so wasteful.

As a matter of playthrough, I do enjoy watching the game progress from Beginning to End, which is why I watch this playthrough, amongst others.
Final Fantasy VI, VII, VIII, and IX are simply the Best.
Mystic Quest through Final Fantasy V are still fun, and I still do play them, because, ... YES !

Nothing beats Original Manufacturers Equipment and its Physical Media accompanyment.
Emulators lose so much in terms of background graphics and playability, but, the "cloud" services have your short and curlies in their ever tightening grasp, as they continually milk you for your democrap driven down, daily devaluing dollar, but, well, there you are.

Watching these play throughs make me realise how much time I wasted over-levelling

I tried playing this back in 2015 when it because playable on ps4 and kept getting my ass kicked by the mecha scorpion in the mako reactor room because I had no experience in turn based games so I gave up.

Recently played the remake on Ps5 and absolutely loved it.

I still have this game for my Playstation 3, it's of course a greatest hits ps1 copy that plays on PS3. With all my save files and my completed game. This and FF8 and Xenogears are still my favorite RPG games of the 90s.

Man, I remember in my childhood that it took 1.5 months to finish the game because of the limited time to play PS and school. It felt like a long journey well fought.

Best RPG of all time hands down.

Why did you refuse to show the base stats of Cloud at each level?
So far as I have seen, you rushed to level 8 and intentionally didn't let the audience see the stats distribution before that?

I have gone through the first hour and am annoyed, I never got to see the base stats and Cloud is now level 9. This isn't worth watching, you have failed my "OCD" desire to see all the stats at every level.

Thank you for guiding me through this masterpiece of a game.
