Ответить"My name? Winkle Brown, here hold my beer"
ОтветитьWow what an interview! And this man has certainly learned what it takes to be a test pilot for one but also a leader. A fascinating career and the number of different types he's flown is mind blowing.
ОтветитьAmazing man and role model, thanks for interviewing him and sharing this for all.
For the record, the NASA F-8 is one slick looking machine!
The manuvering fighter jet doing the cobra is a sitting target with low energy.
ОтветитьI gotta fly the x-29. X-31, f16, f18, at Dryden NASA in the 90’s. Awesome to know this guy was using them too…
ОтветитьFascinating! & interesting too how much he attributes the success of a company by doing the opposite of woke culture (HR) today...
ОтветитьLivin the dream
ОтветитьLegend
ОтветитьAmazing interview!!!
ОтветитьExcellent guest.
ОтветитьI could listen to Mr Smith forever
ОтветитьIt sounds like he's lived a life that would take any normal person 10 lifetimes to achieve.
ОтветитьVery fortunate and humble gu
ОтветитьAmen 🙏❤
ОтветитьInbecil 😂
ОтветитьSo Canadian!!! Some of the nicest people, and the most stealth warriors too! Too bad I got a misdemeanor "pot" charge WAY back in the early 90's, when I had never even smoked pot / weed / grass.. Whatever.. They turned my arse around at the border because I was flagged.. Despite the years, and all the pot smokers and laws up there now, I might still have some sort of a flag on me.. Military didn't care.. lol. It was even a deferred "ticket". Like any scumbag terrorist infiltrating the borders today in the USA because libs need voters, illegal or otherwise, I infiltrated many times into Canada back then in the late 90's.. Never broke a law outside of me having to be a border jumper who has a passport stamped many places all over this globe... I would say I found this all funny... But, I actually found it insulting... Vietnam draft dodgers.. Canada loves you.. (Before my time) Whatever else.. But, it truly pissed me off that I hadn't even committed a crime or smoked "marijuana".. Don't think that stuff would be my speed.. So, hopefully the 90's period has expired me by way of stature of limitations, at least as I've heard about this... If i happen to have the RCMP and the feds here showing up... I'm just intoxicated and bloviating... Mad respect Canada for keeping the nogoodniks out of the peaceful land.. HAHA.. "I will say" that there is no effin way I'd ever go into the Yukon again without me having my Red Ryder BB gun.. Talk about hating and not trusting your own people when there are literally man eaters out and about, and especially in the areas with polar bears... I honestly hope these people (outside of the licensed and told "guides") are carrying sidearms...
..
Great podcast, thanks so much for this interview.
ОтветитьThe F4E looks funny in this but just happy it's out🤔
Ответитьu keep fly counter clock wise having a hard time turning right proving a tendency . Let it glide without correction
ОтветитьAwesome interview! So cool to hear from old heads
ОтветитьI have never even a jet jocky that could control his ego. Amazed they exist ....lol. he has lived my boyhood dream, alas it was not to be eyes. Anyhow for over 50 years I built flying things from biplanes fighter planes and a dragon, long story. Anyhow with current new FAA rules and damn few places to fly, even that is denied me. Funny about the eye thing, atv55 my eyes cleared , better than2020. I had saved a few bucks and flight school was just a few miles up the road.....but I was 55 and had to think about my fitness, I was not as fast, not as steady, physically fit but a nagging doubt creeper in . I chose to keep flying toys building better electronics and having fun . Yes I wish things had been different but that was not God's intent. I'm not sure what his intent was, some job I am to finish, but what happens when I finish ? Take care .
ОтветитьI learnt the importance of checklists in aviation and the need for meticulous attention to detail, even in the face of unexpected situations. Thank you for sharing
ОтветитьUFO,S?
ОтветитьDumping 60000lbs of gas over the lake Nice
ОтветитьUmm that's not a 172. It's an X-29.
ОтветитьEverything? I bet he did not flew the space shuttle..
ОтветитьBest episode EVER! Just wish he had said a bit more about the F-104.
ОтветитьNice
ОтветитьDescribing the X29 breaking apart… “so that was REALLY unusual!!!” Awesome
ОтветитьEverything? The record is held by a Captain Eric Brown, R.N.
ОтветитьEric Brown ?
ОтветитьGreat Interview.
ОтветитьYes agree could listen all night, what a interesting man!
ОтветитьEric Winkle Brown- the greatest!
ОтветитьJohn L Smith WW2 Pilot had 19 confirmed kills. Rank ACE. I think now but I believe John Smith invented "The Positive G Dive". Like he would be at high attitudes when he saw a zero he would turn over and pull back on the stick hard, this crated positive G-force while driving. then at the zero's level John Smith would roll back over level with the zero's zooommmingggg. kill 2 or 3 it was almost like he used his squadron as bait. The Documentaries were great. LMAOO
ОтветитьWhy not take a an intermodal container and put in a launcher with 100 of these muscles. You could drop them off in hardened positions, transport with a truck, or even a barge/ ship.
ОтветитьYou really need to get Chris hadfield on here now
ОтветитьLemme see, now. After adding up all the years flying this and, US Air National Guard, flying as a Marine, etc., Rogers must have been 183 years old at the time of this podcast.
ОтветитьLegends. I wish this country would champion its values like it used to. Pioneers, people to look up to. Men and women that change the fabric of society we inherit from them. These people mean so much !
Ответитьthats crazy he is from Dawson Creek!!!! Just became my local hero!
ОтветитьGreat first hand history. The questions I wanted to ask. 1. What was the worst aircraft he flew. 2. Was there any aircraft he looked at and did not feel positive about flying it.
ОтветитьWhat he said about the AF A330 over the Atlantic…so true. That accident is haunting to say the least.
ОтветитьDumping 27200litres of fuel. That's an expence and half.
Todays price in GDP is £41k
How do you not know who Ben Rich is, Jello? I’m surprised.
ОтветитьRoj is a friend and I consider him to be one of my mentors. We worked together on many projects. I have unfortunately lost touch with him and would love to reconnect.
ОтветитьBen Rich ran the Skunkworks following Kelly Johnson. Both his book and Kelly’s are well worth reading.
