Wow. What great footage. He's so young in it. Its great to see him robust and marching around.
ОтветитьIncredible
ОтветитьI read that he was strong and healthy, He had no problems related to his height, unlike some extra-tall people whose bones become brittle, or who have circulatory problems.
ОтветитьActually he was for a very brief amount of time the tallest man officially measured, until Wadlow shattered the record. He is still tallest Icelandic man on record.
Ответитьim 8'10'' guys how can i record to the record book?
Ответитьlol im 5'11'' or 6' i was kidding :( sry i wont claim anything, but i really like tall people, and id like be at least 6'5'' but my father and mother are like both 5'6 XD i guess i was a bit lucky to get 5 or 6 inches more than them
ОтветитьBy analyzing the videos, Petursson looks to be more like 7'2" or 7'3" in height. You can tell by the way he walks, his legs are not long enough to qualify him as a true giant. He was just a tall person, much like today's basketball centers in the NBA like Shaquille O'neal or Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who are 7'1'' and 7'2'' respectively. His facial features suggest acromegaly. In contrast, Robert Wadlow had no acromegalic features in his face, and he grew so tall that it made him very clumsy to walk.
Ответитьlook under "giant sized kid"
Ответитьits fake
ОтветитьPetrusson was 7'7", and often resided at Gibsonton, Florida next to Al Tomaini a 7'4" giant. The tallest man in America after Wadlow died was Jack Earle, a circus giant who was 7'6 3/4". Petursson was one the oldest giants I know of having died in his 70s when most these people die in their 40s.
ОтветитьRemember it is by rule of thumb that giants under contract in circuses were almost never measured by their promoters and were billed up to 18" taller than what they were.
ОтветитьThis is verry cool. Thank you for posting, He is related to me, through my mothers' mothers side of the family, and I have been researching him. @ Homicide Henry, you are correct in your facts. Thank you for clarifying this. The confusion about his height came from The Viking, costume, with his hat and boots on, he did measure 8'8" tall from ground to the top of his hat. If you can private message me, if you JTithonus, has more info on him, please get a hold of me, Thank You!
ОтветитьYou should read the qualifying statements for Angus Macaskill, the Cape Breton Giant, before you make any claims about North American giants. From all reports, this man was totally free of the weaknesses inherent in gigantism, and at 7'10" and 580 lbs, having 44" wide shoulders, he was perhaps the most impressive specimen ever, as acknowledged by the 1981 Guinness Book. Read about him and others at the TheHumanMarvel site mentioned above.I'd take Angus over Johann in a rasslin' match anytime!
Ответитьwish I got to no him...big cuzz I heard some awesome storys
ОтветитьIncorrect. Johann was born February 9, 1913 and Wadlow was born February 22, 1918. The two were contemporaries.
ОтветитьI met and shook hands with this Giant about 45 years ago. I was 15 years old at the time. And yes, you could pass an American silver dollar through his ring. I had one of the ring copies that he sold, along with a still photo of him playing Goliath in the movie David and Goliath. When I saw him, his hearing was weak, and he spoke through a loudspeaker. He was, and to me still is one very impressive man.
ОтветитьRobert Wadlow 1918-1940 was 272 cm. The tallest man ever.
Jóhann was actually 225 cm not 234 sm.
A handsome and striking Icelandic giant. He would have looked good in the tv show “Game of Thrones”. Another 7’7” giant used to be on that show. He was Neil Fingleton. He died unexpectedly at the age of 37.
ОтветитьHe was 7ft 8.
