I’ve lost over 25 people I know since 2020 alone. My best friend took his own life after not being able to fight it anymore. Shits getting worse by the day.

Such terrible stigma towards addicted Canadians, no help, no resources that are available, combined with no money, housing, health care....the most important resource canada has, its people, are in pain, being destroyed, neglected and dying....wake up canada. Blessings and love to all those struggling and the families of those who passed..thank god for those who are helping them. bless you

I’m very conflicted, and there’s no harm approach. I think I understand what you’re saying. You’re just trying to keep people alive until they eventually can get clean in my mind, it’s more like giving a bottle of vodka to an alcoholic he has no reason to get clean.

According to addiction and trauma expert Dr Gabor Maté, addiction is NOT a disease, neither is it genetic, but due to childhood trauma and stress and social dislocation endemic to systems of inequality and injustice. In his book "In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts" he tells real-life stories from his 12-year-work at Vancouver´s Downtown Eastside, to show that all addictions originate in trauma and emotional loss. So, the question is not: "why the addiction, but why the pain", meaning that we need a trauma- inforned society resulting in a much more compassionate view on ALL addictions, including drug addiction.

"Addiction begins with solving a problem, the problem of human pain, emotional pain"

"By recognizing addiction as a cry for help, we shift from judgment and blame to empathy and understanding. It allows us to approach individuals with compassion and seek to address the root causes of their addictive behaviors rather than solely focusing on the symptoms."

“It is impossible to understand addiction without asking what relief the addict finds, or hopes to find, in the drug or the addictive behaviour.”

NIMBYism is so deep rooted in societies. I got my Abitur 1997. And I remember my mother being totally angry, because it became known that a kid from our village bought drugs at school. She asked me, if we had drugs at our school. I was typical teen and told her. Sure, which one shall I get for you? Then she was beside herself with worry. Truth was, there were all these drugs at school or at central station and I knew where they sold what. Still, I was trauma informed as well as having addiction and substance abuse in my family. I avoided substances starting with alcohol completely. Not having had help for my own trauma before I could chose to do that myself, through me into a long, long eating disorder. So there is no "being safe" when you've got an unhealed trauma. It will find a way to damage you and your life. I have healed from all of it, but I've lost many friends.

I’m a couple weeks away from four years clean. Every time I watch videos like this it’s a reminder to keep doing what I’ve been doing. I’m only 30 and I have more dead friends than my parents. I know it I go back to my old ways I’d be dead sooner than later.

Teaching people the truth about their reality, the lies, the mass deception and corruption of our elite class, the full intent on people with mental health problems, to kill them off, to make millions with the Mexican gov, the entire creation of the false reality we live in, religious reprogramming is the current recovery model. we jumped strait to harm reduction without ever addressing a recovery designed to wake human beings up... Its so much more complicated than people yet realize...

I first tried smoking Cannabis at the young age of 15yrs old, way way back in the last century when the police were still throwing people in a steel cage for simply changing how you felt and thought.

So the people of Canada who believed that the Laws were unjust fought for nearly 30yrs. by continuing to grow and sell BootLegged Cannabis with the sole purpose of overThrowing/overGrowing the Federal Government. We finally got the sale and consumption of Cannabis here in Canada legalized which has not only saved the justice system an unimaginable amount of finances but lets not forget about the unimaginable amount of tax dollars now from the sales of Cannabis.

Now we should reinvesting all those unimaginable savings and put them back directly into a different and new form of treatment in Canada which shouldn’t be to difficult considering the amount of savings now and newly available. If we then legalized all illegal substances, the criminal aspect would disappear, overdose deaths would serious reduce and all those unimaginable savings from the justice system, health system and the taxes from legalized drug sales could go directly back into the future of Canada and a new cutting edge form of drug treatment.

“Being a drug user doesn’t kill, the life style of being a drug user kills”

It's sad that their brains crave a living death more than life. That's how you know something is seriously wrong in addiction. That way of thinking is literally the opposite of survival. Your brain is tricked into falsely associating drugs with your autonomic "survival" response. Dopamine is a liar.

They should offer services for sex addicts and MAP people.
They have an addiction and their urges are still valid and need attention.
Don’t stigmatize grown up men/women who have the cravings of having sex with something /someone and please don’t stigmatize MAP people. They have the craving and urge to have sex with a little child.
Please provide them with services to accommodate their needs. They are addicted too.
Not all MAPs can afford to smuggle or kidnap a child, so please provide them with whatever he/she needs.
We need to be compassionate with everyone suffering from an addiction.
MAP people deserve to have free access to children.
It should be legalized just like drugs.
They have a mental illness and they sexual preference shouldn’t be an obstacle.
Don’t discriminate.
Be compassionate and understand that some parents should be forced to allow MAPs to have access to their children.
It’s ok. Mental illness is everywhere so it’s ok if your children get some mental or physical damage.
It’s ok. It’s about compassion. Share your child and teach them to comply and please someone else who’s suffering from an addiction/mental illness/sexual preference.
Don’t discriminate. MAP people are human beings too.

Let them die.
It’s MAID.
Drug addicts don’t want to live if they are not able to get their dope.
Be compassionate enough to let them die the way they choose.
ODing is a choice.
Let them be.
They can’t manage the challenges of being a grown up and face the challenges in their lives.
It’s ok. No Narcan will save them. At the en of the day, it’s their body, it’s their choice.
Just like abortion.
Let them choose how they die.

These people are a bunch of crybabies. They want the best, prime real estate for their causes, without working for anything. Let them be inconvenienced. What do they expect, it’s free.
Now they want us to buy them heroine and let them get high on us. Incredible. No way. Offer them methodone, or Subutex. They’ll never be sick a single day. But, no, that simply blocks the withdrawals. These people want to get high.
And, as far as businesses, they’ve invested their money, sometimes their whole life savings. The drug users haven’t invested a damn thing.
How a place looks and it’s environment has a lot to do with its value and earning potential. Set the government services out of the way, where they won’t destroy the property value.
I feel like these people have got their nerve, demanding to set these ups in the best neighborhoods. The places are only desirable because of all the work and investment by hardworking people. No way should the best locations go to those who work the least.
I am an addict and an alcoholic.

It is important to understand why some people are able to cope with often appalling pain and still manage without taking drugs. Drug use is a consequence of a problem and their use is essentially a palliative, so unless you address the drivers that lie behind the motivation the situation will remain unchanged.

Another time in my car while parked a guy moved me to the backseat and took my gold chain off and started joyriding my car around town. Glad we are no longer criminalizing the sick and injured.Iits time to decriminalize all drugs. Human nature is Human nature, No one wants to suffer, and its time provide a safe supply and space. Glad Canada has started to drop their archaic religiosity and are finally beginning to move forward. You can"t mange and achieve recovery if you're dead. These are human beings. If you don't like the policy, too fookin bad. Be quiet and get out of the way. Between the Immigrants, the Youth, and the Indigenous, there will never be another Conservative majority here in Canada.

As sad as this situation is, but there's only so much anyone could do to help those who self-inflict harm. Offering them safe injection sites is not changing their lives for the better, rather, making life a bit comfortable for those seemingly hopeless. First step is to get clean and only they could do that for themselves, no one else can. And if one hasn't touched any drug yet, just don't do it.

It’s a little unreasonable, comparing a drug dealer to a landlord. Landlords very often are hard-working and immigrant people who saved up everything to buy a building. And also in California we are not allowed to evict anybody there’s a moratorium and it’s very difficult to evict tenants have a lot of rights and we have not been able to give rent increases for three years so just want to clarify that maybe Canada is different. If so, they should have protections.

Why are people in North America so depressed that they get into heroin? Seriously, that stuff is not actually "on every corner 24/7", junkies have a serious network. If you don't hang out with whiny junkies all day looking for dope, it's not going to magically seek you out. Please come to my country, where kratom and low-potency opioids are legal and OTC. We do not have anything like your fetty crisis... This is probably also because we have better families here and the cost of living is really reasonable, so there's nowhere near the level of depression as there is in your failing West...
